Tom Brokaw says "So long!"

#1 Postby wx247 » Mon Apr 19, 2004 10:35 am

As of December 2nd this year, Brian Williams will become the chief anchor of NBC Nightly News.

My question is this... how long till we can all breathe a sigh of relief as Peter Jennings retires?

I am waiting on the day Garrett. His latest fiasco and spew in his segment about Jesus Christ really had my blood boiling. he needs to be gone! But ABC will just fill his seat with someone worse. lol. Then we are back to square 1. hehe

Duck, before I even read your post, I was thinking the same thing. David Bloom was a hungry and honest newsguy, and I miss him too. Can't say that much about many...if any.

Brokaw is a man who sunk his teeth deeply into the war years of this country, and I admire him deeply for that.

Can't say I have felt the same about Peter Jennings, though.

I like Brian Williams but am concerned that he might be a little soft for what he has in store for him.

I believe initial reports were saying the Tom Brokaw was going to retire in the summer. He hasn't been taking several weeks off during the last number of summers. In this case, he will come back by late summer, the beginning of fall, finishing off his final weeks with NBC News.

It has always been stated Tom would stay until after the November elections.

Figured he would stay until after the elections. Now, when is Mike Wallace going to go? He needs to be gone too. Better yet, we need new owners of all those liberal biased media outlets.

I used to watch Peter Jennings but anymore since the Raleigh news network is on CBS (WRAL-TV5) I've been watching Dan Rather of late.

Yes, Duck, I totally agree. I felt very badly when he passed. He was excellent, enthusiast and, in every sense, a true newsperson.

Having had dealings with the NBC folks in New York (i.e. the Dateline crew), where he was based (doing Weekend Today before going to Iraq), they were devastated by his sudden and untimely passing. :(

I understand that they have a fund that they started for David's three young daughters to ensure their educations. Such a shame.

I like Tom Brokaw and Dan Rather. But Peter Jennings kinda stinks lol..

I also don't have too many problems with Brian Williams. He is a good journalist and anchor. He deserves credit

To me it's not all about politics...I find Rather a good orator and broadcaster.
I may not agree with what he says at times...but he's a nice guy over all.
