It's been a rough few weeks...

#1 Postby mf_dolphin » Tue Apr 20, 2004 6:56 pm

While I appreciate the sentiment of the people who have taken it on themselves to defend STORM2K on some of the other boards, I’m going to ask that we bring this to an end. We can't control what people post on other boards and we're not going to change any of their minds. I know there are people stirring the pot behind the scenes but there's not a lot that can be done about that. I do ask that you don't feed the trolls. They're not going to listen to reason and there's no sense in giving them the opportunity to continue. Let's focus on the things we can control, the mood, environment and family nature here on STORM2K. I have asked the staff to take the time to consider the poster's view for a second when they feel they have to moderate a post and to send a courteous PM explaining what was done and why. If they have a problem with it then they should be asked to bring it to Chad or myself. As staff we have a responsibility to keep things non-confrontational and I apologize to the board on not doing more toward that end.

With that being said, there have been and will no doubt be again times when some people will give us no choice but to remove them from the community. We will not tolerate disruptive behavior here, never have and never will. The final decisions on that have always been on Chad and myself and will continue so in the future. We do ask for feedback and input from the staff and value their input however the buck stops with Chad and I. While we don’t share the details of these events with the board as a whole we will always respond to a PM or e-mail if any of you have questions as to why we took certain action. I would like to say thank you to the staff. They do a tremendous job here and believe me it’s often a thankless job. We’re all human, just remember they are as well

We’ve proven as a community that we can argue, debate, pray, laugh and cry as an extended family. Some people will never understand the bond that we’ve created but that’s their loss. Let's all take a step back, let things settle down and try to repair the damage done to our own house. The absolute best thing we can do is to have S2K continue to grow and prosper. I have a great faith that things will work out in God’s time.

Thanks to each of you for your time, patience and dedication!

Marshall and Chad - while it seemed we were going adrift there for a while, you've turned us around, in one fell swoop, I might add! Thanks for taking the time to address the situation. I know I will take your words of wisdom to heart and follow suit. I encourage everyone else to for that matter. I now think Storm2K will be better than ever if we keep this vision. And yes Marshall your topic brought me out of lurkdom! LOL

To get serious though, I appreciate you taking the time to write this note to all of us Marshall. Want to run for Pres? LOL

My 2 cents worth

Ok Marshall if you say stop I shall stop. I got a little tired of the vile personal attacks on the storm2k mods. As you well know I have had my differences with staff here, but unlike some folks I didnt go to another board and air our dirty laundry for all to see, and add fuel to the fire over there. In my opinion THAT should be grounds to be banned. If our members want to post over there fine; they do not need to be backstabbing our staff and members though.

I agree with you 100%, george.

I also appreciate the hard work that Marshall and Chad, along with the mods do to keep this board a place where one can go to read and post and not fear being called every name in the book :)

Yes, let's go on and stop the nonsense. The problems the Admins are dealing with should be dealt with on their level. The threats and bad=mouthing need to stop.

"Bravo!" You'se guys have done a FANTASTIC job on keeping this place a family oriented, fun loving, troll free site....let's KEEP it that way. Storm2K is BY FAR, a safe haven in todays cruel world, sure, we have our disagreements but what family DOESN'T?

Good post Marshall. It's a shame that your moderators and other administrator go around on other boards stirring up and getting involved in trouble. But I commend you for keeping your cool throughout the whole situation and trying to settle it peacefully.
