Something is bothering me

#1 Postby timNms » Wed Apr 21, 2004 11:46 pm

I want everyone on the board to know that I enjoy posting and reading messages on S2k. I feel quite comfortable here and enjoy the great comraderie that goes on here. I respect each of you. However, today there is something that is really bothering me. I've seen some things that I just don't understand.

Many of us on this board call ourselves Christians. Do we really know what the meaning of the word "Christian" is? Judging from what I've seen being posted by some members of S2k on several other places today, I'd be hardpressed to say that we know the true meaning of the word.

I believe Christian means "Christ-like". In my opinion, being Christ-like means being willing to FORGIVE and forget. When Christ forgave me of my sins, he placed them as far as the east is from the west, never to be remembered again. Now, if I am to be Christ-like, I am supposed to do the same to someone who has hurt or wronged me. Sometimes that is very hard to do, but if we are to be Christ-like, it is our duty to do so.

With that being said, I think it is time that those who continue to drag up the past need to let it go. We can't change what happened yesterday anymore than we can predict what will happen tomorrow. But we can make our life much better by putting ourselves in the place of those we are hurting by our actions. How would we feel if it were us that it appeared the whole world was against? I, for one, have done some soul searching. I have been told what went on with someone who used to be a member of this board, but I have not heard that person's side of the story. However, it is NOT my place to judge that person, even if he/she is guilty. My job is to FORGIVE and forget and move on. While I did not donate any money to the board because I didn't have it to give, I would gladly repay what is owed if I had it...if I knew it would end this constant problem that seems to appear on a regular basis.

I thought this morning that things had been worked out and that perhaps the board would get back to being a pleasant place to visit friends. However, I don't think that is going to happen until every active member puts the past in the past and looks toward the future.

If Jesus Christ Himself were to visit us on this board, what would he think about the way some of us have been conducting ourselves here, and especially on other boards? And we wonder why some people call Christians kooks. We all need to start to practice what we preach. We can't just talk it on Sunday and not walk it on Monday. It's a daily thing. We must learn to think before we speak. I know how hard it is to control anger. That is one of my biggest faults. I am slow to anger, but once I get there, it is hard to control. But to act as we have done in the past few days is unacceptable. We must set an example for those who are not Christians.

I'm sorry for the long post, but I felt that I needed to say these things. I hope I have not offended anyone. Marshall and Chad, I really appreciate all that you guys do to make this a great place to be.

My prayer is that God will bless you all and keep you in His safety.

Tim - what a wonderful way to look at it and thank you so much for pointing that out to us. And really, it is the only way to look at it, if you think about it. I keep saying we need to take the high road but you actually went much further and gave us wonderful examples of how to take the high road.

Stormraiser - I think what Tim is trying to say is let's not restate what we think others have done or said. But rather just forgive and ~try~ our best to forget. I for one do not want to read anymore about who said what. Let's just move on. I hope that doesn't upset you in any way, but that's the way I took Tim's post to mean. And his post hit home with me - I've been saying let's move on for a while now.

And just to clarify... moving on does not necessarily mean supporting http://www.moveon.org ~ LOL... just had to throw that in there for Helen's sake.

Thanks for pointing us back in the right direction Tim. I have a feeling that you picked a good to step up to the plate. I hope everyone else will follow suit.

We haved made great progress in the last few hours in terms of returning to what storm2k original theme is about but this message that Tim has posted is powerful and helpful to cement what storm2k is about and that is a family enviroment board.I am very hopefull that we look at the present and more important to the future as I see better things comming to storm2k more than we haved accomplished from the creation of the board in october 8th 2002.

Excellent post Tim!! It is now time to take the high road and let the pieces fall where they may. I regret the participation on my part and have apologized.

You are an asset here Tim and are a part of the S2K family. (((HUGS)))

"AMEN Brother!" As I was once told by a GREAT Pastor, "We are to forgive the person, NOT the action!" I am JUST as guilty about harboring such feelings as you mentioned. We just had some GREAT people buy the house next to us a few months back, these people are a GOD SEND, VERY strong in their faith. I've always had a BAD habit of judging people, I've prayed to no end asking for this to be taken away from me.....anyways, Kathy said the other day that that's what we're suppose to do, convict each other and let me tell ya, she DID!

Thanks for the wonderful post and making us ALL aware of our actions!

Our past is important to us because we learn from it. It is important because it can help define who we are. It is important because it helps us better shape our future.

But you are absolutely right that there is no sense in rehashing the events of days gone by. Anger and resentment take TOO MUCH energy, so instead we need to look at today for the gift it is.

You did a nice job of outlining your feelings, and it is clear you want to move on to brighter tomorrow's too.

Thanks for posting your view. YOU are a part of the high road we need to stay on.

timNms,

With all do respect I have seen this type of response in 17 emails this morning. Not to say that you sent them. But today they are no longer threats ,but a call for me to apologize for my words and for starting another board war.Every email was from a different ISP.

Now the blame is on me and that is unexceptable! Its is exactly what I said would happen and has been happening for the past couple of weeks.I did not particapate in any of the posts that spoke bad on any of the boards, nor have I said anything bad about anyone. My concern is only the threats made to me,my company,storm2k and other sites on these servers..Why was I threatened? I never made a post at WWBB or any other board and have never posted anything that would warrant that type of response here.My first post was yesterday and it was directed to one individual and I offered some common sense to the war of words on these boards.

I will not stop defending what I believe in.Problem is it really doesn't matter.I will be banned at all the boards it is that easy. What is unbelievable to me is that someone has violated people's privacy's by abusing their powers and has now stolen money from this community, yet it will be the ones who defend the community that will hated. That is what is truely sad and unforgivable.

Steve, my post was not directed to you alone. It was meant for all of us who are guilty of wrong-doing toward that person. Yeah, he/she did wrong, but if I'm right, has taken care of the debt that was owed. It should be over now and to keep bringing it up only gives S2k a bad name.

I don't blame you at all for what has happened. From what I have learned, you had nothing to do with it. I understand why you made the "email" post.

From what I've gathered, the parties involved in the pm thing have put it in the past and gotten on with things. I think we all should do the same.

I don't know if you are a Christian or not, but if you are, then you will understand why I posted what I did. We all are guilty of judging others, when in fact, we have things in our life that is wrong and should be corrected before we start pointing a finger at someone else. :)

I have not, nor will I send you an email or PM concerning this situation. I hope I haven't offended you. That was not my intention.

You have not offended anyone.I understand the theme of your post.I agree 100%.

My reply was intended to convey how the facts have tilted.I hope I did not offend anyone.

This ploy is working and they will not stop until the reach their goal.I have many more facts and evidence to further this arugment.Hopefully I will not have to go there and I hope the threats will stop.At 3:00pm today I recieved 2 more threatening emails, again from different ISP's.

Again its strange how this has become only a money issue .Yes it is good news that it is being returned.I hope it was from her and not from anyone else.

I pray for ticka1 to do the right thing.
