Would You travel overseas now?
Just curious, would you travel overseas at the moment? The reason for this question, my sis in laws son has taken a flight to Spain TONIGHT :o Seems he met this girl over there in Madrid Spain and went back to bring her to live in the states with him, now HOW STUPID IS THAT?
I mean COME ON! Get a life here, she can wait another 2 weeks don't you think??? We warned and warned my sis in law NOT to let him go but NOOOOO and the hell of it is, my sis in law was STUCK in Paris during 9/11, you would think THAT would have changed her mind, you see, my sis in law is one of those that thinks, "This will NEVER happen to ME!" AH WELL, can't say as we didn't warn him and her, I have lost almost ALL respect for this kid, I say kid, he's 20 years old now

Dennis - no I would not travel overseas now. I wouldn't have traveled a month ago! Especially now with Americans trying to get "home" just a few days ago from various points over there. To think this is as good a time as any to travel over there is rediculous. But then you added his age. Ah, now it all fits.
When 9-11 occurred I left messages for all family members I could think of who might not know what's going on. One was to my young sister-in-law (now 27). Her husband is disabled and they have a 3 year old. So their schedule is nothing less than hectic. I imagined them over there not having the TV on or watching kids' videos or something. Turns out she was out all day with another mom and young son and her own daughter. They were having a fun day out even though each place they went, they were told the tragic news. First time was when they showed up at the Y for swim lessons. Instructor was shocked anyone would show up (this was at about 10 a.m.). The moms decided since they paid for the lessons, they might as well stay. Can you imagine this instructor's frustration?! Next was the park and lunch. They even shopped on the way home. All the while our world is falling apart! She got home at 5 and proceded to complain to me why all the malls/businesses, school activities were being cancelled or closed. Let me tell you, I laid into her BIG time. I stopped her dead in her whining tracks when I said I am old enough to remember so many things (VietNam, JFK's assassination, etc.) and that this meant war. To this day I cannot talk about 9-11 with her since she is still so wrapped up in her mommy world. So I can relate to how frustrated you feel with this "kid". I chalk my sister-in-law's indifference up to her age. Now I know some young people are wise beyond their years, so this doesn't apply to them. But some are just too young to "get it." Guess it's up to us to help them "get it."

I also have friends over in Paris who I am concerned about. I have yet to hear from them in e-mail, which they promised me they would send.

I haven't posted much today, for one, I've been GLUED to the news for over 11.5 hours but the MAIN reason for me not being here, I was SOOOOO PO'D that I could eat nails!!! Michelle talked to her sister today.....now bear in mind, she was married to a shrink for over 20 years, he left her, he now pays 60,000$ per year for alamony (sp), she doesn't have to left a FINGER! ANYWAY.....Michelle asked her if she had been watching the days events unfold, her reply, "No, it's happening over THERE, it doesn't concern me and my life, I have NO TIME for that dribble, it won't effect me in anyway, I watch 30 minutes of it a night and that's it!" TALK ABOUT PISSED OFF, SORRY for the language but COME ON.....her SON is over in Spain now, who knows if he will make it back safe or NOT!!!! God, this woman really gets on my NERVES......you have to understand, when she was married to the shrink, they flitted all over the world on vacations, the guy made WELL over 300K a YEAR!!!! Money was no object to them, still isn't! Can you imagine??? I don't talk to her anymore, Michelle does on a limited bases after this!
