Question on firewalls

#1 Postby hunter84 » Thu Jun 17, 2004 8:39 pm

I, just a few days ago upgraded to a DSL line. question is. Is it safe to leave the computer running all the time without worrying about it getting hacked. Or is the firewall in the computer a good safety or are there other products I can down load to help. Or should I continue to turn it off when I am away from it. Thanks

A firewall is a must for cable or DSL connections! A good spyware program and an up to date virus program are must haves as well :-) I update my virus software every day...

I use ZoneAlarm as a software firewall...it is freely distributed in the basic version.

The posts or stuff said are NOT an official forecast and my opinion alone. Please look to the NHC and NWS for official forecasts and products.

Model Runs Cheat Sheet:
GFS (5:30 AM/PM, 11:30 AM/PM)
HWRF, GFDL, UKMET, NAVGEM (6:30-8:00 AM/PM, 12:30-2:00 AM/PM)
ECMWF (1:45 AM/PM)
TCVN is a weighted averaged

Opinions my own.

A router would not hurt either hunter.

Don't know about that. You can buy them at Walmart for about 40 bucks. Mine is the Network Everywhere Cable/DSL 4 port router.
