Car bombs going off all over Iraq

#1 Postby streetsoldier » Thu Jun 24, 2004 11:09 am

Seven in Mosul alone...plus Ankara and Istanbul have had bombs detonated, one near the Hilton (Ankara) where President Bush is supposed to stay later this week.

The b@$+@&*$ are getting desperate as the handover continues...as of today, ALL Iraq's ministries are under their control with the final handover just seven days off.

We were told to expect this escalation...now it is here. :grrr:

I heard on the news this am that the US was bringing out the big weapons since this was obviously a coordinated attack. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Thanks for the info. I have been so busy I hadn't heard about this... I had heard about the Turkey terror attack, however.

With the handover only a week away this will only get worse. This usually happens when the terrorists know they are losing.

WIth so many attacks it may just galvanize the new Iraqi government to lower the boom. While the US is forced to show restraint I have a feeling that the Iraqi's may not. If those so oppressed suddenly have the means and the opportunity to strike back at their oppressors it may get real ugly.

Suspect the next two weeks will fill our emails with NEWS ALERTS like those today. Plenty tense...but as you say, very predictable.
