Build~A~Bear....

#1 Postby furluvcats » Tue Jul 27, 2004 5:08 pm

I need help!

Everyone has heard of Build A Bear, right, where your kids stuff their own little animal carcass? :O) My question to you is this...WHAT is the name of the other company who offers the same thing, usually at a mall around Christmas in a little kiosk? They give you a cradle for your baby instead of the house box that Build A Bear gives...
My daughter had "Kitty", and even though she looks all grown up, Kitty slept with her everynight, went everywhere with her, sat in the seat with her on airplane rides, etc...(you get the point)...well, Chloe left poor Miss Kitty in the bed at a hotel at Disney last week, and they must have dumped Kitty, because they don't seem to have her in lost in found...we even went in person yesterday to try again...Kitty needs replaced... Build A Bear doesn't offer the right cat for stuffing...can anyone help me with the name of the other company who does this, and has Kitty's carcass ready for stuffing? Much thanks...

This one time......

#2 Postby GrimReaper » Tue Jul 27, 2004 5:16 pm

 This one time I won't bemoan cats, kittens, or anything feline in this post. I'm so sorry to hear of "Kitty's" loss!!! My daughter still has her "blankie", even at 10 yrs old...she takes it everywhere. I know she would be devestated at it's loss. Poor Chloe!!! I've never known any other "Build-a-Bear" kind of place, but I promise to keep my eyes and ears open, and if I find a feline I think she might like...we'll let you know!!!
Love to Chloe....and BAD Disney....I'm soooo surprised they can't seem to find it....make sure you go to the GENERAL Manager, hotels usually don't throw things like that away!!!!

Its a calico kitty...we actually saw this same cat at Circus Circus in Las Vegas, and I bemoaned the store manager because they charged more for Kitty then Build A Bear charges for their stuff...lol I'm fixing to call the store in Vegas now though and see if they can stuff me a Kitty and have it delivered...NOT wanting to cross the Mojave in deep summer to get her cat! Wish me luck!

Oh Furry! I'm sorry to hear of Kitty!

I've just recently heard of "Build a Bear". I think it's a fabulous place! It's a shame that Circus, Circus doesn't ship.

Sorry, fur can't help you either. I wasn't even aware of Build A Bear until a few years ago! We have several in the Cincy area, at upscale malls. And our local mall isn't exactly 'upscale', LOL. We bought our niece and my husband's Godchild a BAB gift certificate for xmas last year. In January my daughters and I took her to the trendy mall with one. She chose a unicorn and we had the best time. Julie's 4, the perfect age to cooperate with employees - rub the heart on your heart, put it to your head so you never forget me, etc. I was tearing up actually. Nina said she wanted to work at a BAB, if only one would be built near us. That was our BAB experience - very positive.

I noticed a Hallmark store had a stuffing machine for bears recently. This Hallmark was one across town so again, it was the first time I noticed they stuffed bears there. That's a thought - try Hallmark?

Finally, do a google search. Kids tease me all the time, but hey you can search any topic under the sun now. Even your own name!

Good luck. Both my girl had treasured babies and stuffed animals when little. I know how special they can become. Shame on that hotel staff for not putting Kitty aside - I know I would have! I'd have put her up on a shelf for safe keeping and tried to track you down.

We have a bear factory thingy here in Galveston, but I don't know what it's called. It's on The Strand. It's not listed under "toys" or "bears" in the phone book. But I'll search around and see what I can find or I'll drive over there and get the actual name.

Shawn - way to go the extra mile!!! I sometimes take for granted how great this place is. Your post just proves to me we have the best members!!! You're so nice to help out like that!!!

Heck, Shannon do we have any members living near this hotel? LOL Maybe they could walk in and say - we want Kitty! Where ya keeping her? I'd drive over too if it was close to me! Is Grimmy close?

Grim lives in Florida, but had another idea....call the gift store back at CircusCircus, and get the Gift Shop Manager on the line. Ask that person who manufactured the cat and call them directly. Maybe they have a website, or will accomodate you over the phone. WE all know you, fur, pour on that charm...you can get anything you want!!! lol And if that dosn't work, give them a big boo hoo..and they won't be able to refuse!! Good Luck!!!

Calico? Would it happen to look like this: http://www.buildabear.com/acb/showdetl. ... 30&CATID=1

I'm still searching for "Build-A-Bear" type stores. Can't find the Galveston shop in the Yellow Pages. But I haven't given up yet. Might need to drive out that way at lunch or after work.

Don't worry -- we'll find Kitty. :)

The last one is a calico Duck - they usually have more black and tan markings on them with a white belly and paws.

Great job! :D

OMG Shawn...you found KITTY! I did hours of searching and couldn't find the right Kitty, but the calico you just showed is the right cat! Thanks so much, you're a "doll"....lol! I'll give them a call right now and see if they can ship me a Kitty! THanks and hugs to all of you for helping me search!

((((Duckie)))

PS Duckie...I was at the zoo the other day and feeding the ducks and geese duck food from the little machine...it was the highlight of the day! They'd snap and pull and tug on us trying to get us to feed them and not their friends...their beaks felt really cool when they grabbed the feed out of our hands... They were very bossy...fun experience!

Glad I could be of assistance. :D Kitty is cute and fluffy!

And very cool about the ducks! A couple of my friends just moved to an area right off the island where ducks swim around in the canals. We saw a couple of older ducks and about 10 little ducklings feeding. I'll get a picture next time I have a camera with me.
