I would be frustrated...

#1 Postby wx247 » Sun Aug 01, 2004 9:01 pm

if I were those poor people at any of the 6 specifically mentioned financial institutions who have to go to work tomorrow. I know that the chance of something happening is not as great as it may seem at times, but I still think I would have mixed emotions.

I am not saying the govt. shouldn't tell us about these threats, but my heart does go out to those who will be working there and for all our uniformed and undercover men and women who will patrolling to try to preclude any act of terror, should the face of evil rear its ugly head.

Dennis I do believe that we have sophisticated manners in which we can intercept communication. They aren't sending us emails and letting us know that they plan to attack.

We are on the offensive and so far it has paid off.

Yep, like they had no plans to eradicate and decimate THE WEST and any traces of DEMOCRACY pre-2001..??

Uh huh, sure, whatevah!

I think we should also retreat on the war on drugs, gangs, and other street crime because they doth [radically and responsively] protest too much and they're getting ticked off.

What do you mean? The current administration has done a super job of thwarting any attacks on U.S. soil.

If you mean they shouldn't tell us and warn us of credible threats, think about that thoroughly. If an attack occurred and the administration knew of the threat and didn't warn us, we'd all be screaming bloody murder.

I would have expected just the opposite, but the stock market was positive today, which IMO sends a signal so to speak of US thumbing our collective noses/flipping the bird at these threats and thugs.

CNBC's Ron Insana put it best this afternoon when he stated that the markets don't react to threats, they react to events.

That may be true in general, but when you have uncommon yet specific threats publicized as was done SUNDAY, and the NYSE was specifically named among those targets, you still might expect some negative reaction.
