Baghdad and Medina divisions DESTROYED!

#1 Postby streetsoldier » Wed Apr 02, 2003 11:19 am

So much for Saddam's Republican Guard...2 down, 4 to go. And the Nebuchadnezzar and Hammurabi divisions are hurting, too...

I smell victory..In the form of defeated Iraqi forces..The best they have I might add..Baghdad still may be a bit of a challange as we will have to go building to building rooting out the Iraqi military and civilian support. God Speed to our forces!!!!

This is good news but lets not celebrate too early. We have yet to face the very best of the Special Republican Guard, who have the best troops and have been preparing specially for the defense of Baghdad. But this does make things easier though now the two Elite Republican Guard divisions have been defeated

WMD

#7 Postby Steve H. » Wed Apr 02, 2003 1:06 pm

WIll their Special Forces Republican Guard use WMD. I think they would have used them by now. Or if they are going to use them I would think it would have to be soon, otherwise once they get near/into the city, they would gas themselves. Has there been any recent concerns about this from CCOM?

I heard on FoxNews that one possible reason the Republican Guard is NOT being allowed to retreat into Baghdad is the fear that they may try to stage a coup against the regime...as things are going now, this is very likely...y'think?

The reuglar Republican Guard isn't normally allowed in Bagdad just because of the coup possibility. With the airpower arrayed against them if they try and retreat they'll get cut to pieces in the open. Their choice is where to die or surrender. The "Special Republican Guard" is manning the inner ring and is mostly made up of men from Saddam's home clan.

The Republican Guard is being systematically wiped from the face of the earth. I'm now hearing shortwave radio reports that Republican Guard soldiers...even officers are fleeing, many are surrendering.

The sheer weight in numbers and momentum have swung in favor of the U.S...IMO the rout is on.

God Bless America...God Bless our brave men and women of honor...our greatest heroes! :)

I think the military plan is succeeding - they had a plan which had so many naysayers and its working. I think the hardest battle will be in Baghdad - the elite - the ones with the strongest weapons and yes I think the chemcial warfare might happen too.

My feeling is Sadamn's dead or his critically injuried. How many of you think he'll commit suicide or go out with a blaze of fire (to hell I a might add).

IMHO he is dead..why else would they have reported senior officials and his own family are trying to flee Baghdad?? If he was alive they would be terrified to try this??   Maybe I am wrong..I also think chemical warfare is a real danger because we haven't found anything yet(chemical or bio wise)and we found those banned weapons ie missiles. I think they figure they have nothing to lose now that they have been shown to by liars..as The United States said all along..

U.S. forces advanced even closer to Baghdad Wednesday, wiping out one Republican Guard division and nearly destroying another as they geared up for an all-out assault on the Iraqi capital.

Some American units are reportedly within 19 miles of Baghdad, while others are within 30.

The former Presidential Palaces are now unfinished swimming pools for the New Iraq! At least we dug the hole in the ground for them! :-)
