I hate to beat this subject into the ground, but this is coming from a different angle, if you will...
The vast majority of the membership is accessing the Hurricane Hollow Tropical Weather forum, opposed to the Off Topic forum and the others. (Then
there are those that we would like to correspond with that disappear once the tropics aren't active anymore/when the season is over).
There are times that subject matter I would like members to read and potentially response to. Sure we can PM, (IM or e-mail) them; but I feel there
is no point to that. They are here to access the forums, why not check the threads to see something that is being asked and/or an issue that would
pertain to them so discussion can continue in those threads and then, perhaps in private.

I generally check all the forums, but if they don't want to access anything else but one specific forum that is there choice.

Exactly, it's there choice and not a resolution to my request.
If there is someone specific that you would like to see a certain topic I find that pming them is the best option (even though you said it was pointless). I usually say, "Hey... look at the topic on IUINIUI in the JKGG section."

Sometimes I only get a chance to access a couple of forums (the main ones I visit) or sometimes just a couple of threads before I have to close my browser again while multi-tasking here at work. Sometimes it happens at home also.
The problem arises when I close the browser and everything that was "unread" automatically switches over to "read" and when I log back in, those posts aren't highlighted as new so I miss them.
Or sometimes, I'm just busy (especially on weekends). I may be gone from here for a couple of days and not get to catch up on everything, especially in the Hurricane Hollow. It's sort of like coming home to a pile of newspapers and only saving the most recent ones because all the other stuff is old news.
I like to read the older posts (2 and 3 pages back) if and when I do get a chance to catch up. But if they're talking about Tropical Storm Charley and he's already developed into HURRICANE Charley, made landfall in FL, and is headed for NC, I'm not really going to be as concerned about the TS Charley posts.

Tom, the key word in your title for this topic is WE meaning you or me or someone else, but not the others. People will only access what they care to access or have time to access. I, for one, have a very busy schedule, including two different STORM2K jobs(voluntary), a full time+ job that I am paid for, church activities(voluntary) that I feel compelled to participate in, and of course a family that I must also pay attention too if I care to continue the wonderful relationship I have. What I am saying is that people will only access what they care to access and/or have time to access, NOT WHAT WE WANT THEM TO ACCESS. There is no way that I know of that anyone can "force" others to see the posts WE WANT THEM TO SEE. There are many on this site that do not access the weather forums, just as there are many on this site that only access the weather forums. I wish I had time to read everything(well almost everything) on this site, but I don't and I dare say others are like me. It certainly is not something I stress about though and neither should anyone else. If there is one particular post or thread you would like someone to see, then take the time to either pm them or email them and ask that they do so. Past that there is nothing we can do to change things concerning this desire.

Right, David and I was having second thoughts about bringing this up, but at the same time wanted to get member feedback. This was the result.
For the record, my reference to WE is meaning any member at a any particulalr moment.
My only point was there are other things we like to discuss with people but they start in a thread on the off topic forum. Oh well, I tried.
Sorry for creating such a post that I have had on my mind for so many days.
