Breaking News: Terrorism

#1 Postby wx247 » Fri Aug 27, 2004 8:02 am

It now becomes clear...

CNN is reporting that traces of explosives were found in the wreckage of one of the two Russian airliners that went down. I think that explains it all.

And didn't I hear that some group was finally claiming responsibility?

Darn, I was hoping it was just some freakish coincidence. I hate when everyone screams "terrorists!" when something happens and then we find out it was a tragic accident and not terrorist-related.

It's as if they don't even have to do anything or attack anyone and they still win. People are fearful about things that pre-9/11 were almost always accidents anyway. They terrorize without lifting a finger.

It sounded like a terrorist incident right when I heard about it.. Shame that it's reality now..

I'm not surprised at all. What are the chances of two planes going down from the same airport minutes apart???

Bonnie - I completely agree. One plane and you might wonder if it was terrorism. Two, from the same airport? That says terrorism to me. Brings back awful memories of 9/11 too. I was half expecting Russia to ground planes after these 2 planes went down. I know that causes all sorts of delays, inconveniences but if I were boarding a plane from that airport later in the day, I think I'd stay home.

Could be.

The "Islambouli Brigades" website apparently had a posting that claimed they were responsible. It was the "Islambouli Brigades of al-Qaeda" who claimed to have attempted to assasinate a Pakistani prime minister designate last month. Probably the same group. The website claimed that there were five terrorists aboard each plane.

More likely Chechen terrorist. I did post an article earlier this week about a news reporter putting together a simulated bomb in flight. 200g of the right stuff in the right place is all it takes to bring one down.
