Just coming in...Reuters is confirming via its sources on the ground in Baghdad that Republican Guard troops are heading toward the newly renamed "Baghdad" International Airport.

Better to get them in the open where we can deal with them quickly! The fact that they're moving is actually better for us than them. :-)

The airport, from the photos and "comp-grafix" fly-overs I've seen, has an excellent fire zone outside its perimeter, and is mostly open ground; the palaces are "toast" to the northeast, and northwest, and offer little cover. What I see is a "mass wave" attack...with predictable results. Only "wild card" is those tunnels below..."they" know them, we don't.

Lot of trouble coming on that strip.

we may be encountering the Special Republican Guard now. We can expect some high casualties for Coalition troops from here on as we try to take Baghdad
