From Staff Reports - The Dallas Morning News

Residents in east-central Collin County were advised to remain indoors until further notice Tuesday morning following a fertilizer fire in neighboring Hunt County.

The Collin County Homeland Security Department said it was tracking a vapor plume from the fire that may contain irritating chemical agents.

Officials said the fire, at El Dorado Chemicals in Greenville, is believed to involve ammonia nitrate and other fertilizers. There were reports that some people living east of Farmersville had reported eye irritation and breathing difficulties.

The cities of Farmersville, Princeton, Blue Ridge, Anna and Melissa were all notified about the fire.

A school in Floyd – located between Greenville and Farmersville – was evacuated.

WFAA-TV contributed to this report.
