Massive Iraqi Artillery attack

#1 Postby Derek Ortt » Mon Apr 07, 2003 11:18 am

Fox has reported that the explosions near Baghdad now are Iraqi caused. Iraq seems to be the ones firing this time. Lets hope that we do not suffer any serious casualties in this latest Iraqi attack today or that the reports are wrong and that these are Coalition fire

I have heard nothing since I saw the explosions live. Not a single thing. makes me wonder what exactly did go on and if we did take massive casualties as the explosions seem to be going unreported now, despite being broadcast to the world earlier

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Machinegun fire and several explosions were heard early on Tuesday at the palace compound of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein that was occupied by U.S. troops with tanks on Monday, a Reuters correspondent said.
"It seems as if Iraqi forces are bombarding the compound. I saw flashes as whatever it was they were firing landed," said Reuters correspondent Khaled Yacoub Oweis from a hotel across the Tigris river from the presidential palace compound. The night had been relatively quiet in Baghdad, with the city blacked out and the sky occasionally lit up by flares.

Now I'm hearing thatwe were bombing Saddam. Both sides are probably spreading propaganda and each incident probably happened

new Info:

The major explosions shown tonight WERE NOT the possible attack on Saddam. The attack on Saddam occurred earlier this afternoon with a B-1 in a residential area (something tells me some propaganda there trying to cover themselves, though I'm glad that we are finally taking the gloves off0. The barrage tonight still is unexplained

Considering I just saw the embedded reporter Peter ? report from that palace, and no mention of the attack, I think it was our troops firing and not at the palace, but at the ministry of information or Al Jazeera offices which are also nearby. Also heard at least one report on Fox that said it was Allied and not Iraqi, but I have not heard any definite confirmation one way or the other.
