ATI Boards v. Windows XP --- Adjusting Memory for System Cac

#1 Postby HugoCameandLeft » Thu Sep 09, 2004 7:34 am

Hey folks,

Just wanted to warn everyone who might have an ATI video card NOT to change the setting in control panel which optimizes memory for system cache. Leave it on optimized for program performance. Apparently, ATI boards, when coupled with large HDD, and large system cache, conflict with XP in a very destructive manner. Take it from me, my entire hard drive on my home PC is now corrupted. ATI knows about the problem, but blames Microsoft, who doesn't acknowledge it.

Either way, this may not affect any of you, but I thought you should be warned so you don't have to do what I will have to start doing. The error of choice is a "Delayed Write Failure" that occurs on essentially all system files.
