Lone Star Rally/Tropical Storm Ivan cam

I don't get what Ivan has against tourism. Maybe he heard wrong. HEY, IVAN! It's the war on TERRORISM, you dork, not TOURISM!!!

He struck during Labor Day weekend first and now he's back a weekend later (and weakened...and later :) ), just in time to greet 200,000 tourists and/or bike aficionados here on the island for the 2nd Annual Lone Star Bike (as in motorcycle) Rally.

I suppose this will give you guys a good idea of how things look around here on The Strand during the rally and during landfall. Of course, people will be at the beach also, I'm sure.

YW! :) Looks a little sleepy right now, but I'm sure things will liven up later. Besides, those roads are barricaded now (for the cyclists, not because of the storm), so there's no traffic.

Thanks, TS!

I've never seen them put barricades out here before,

but I guess bikers were riding out there too close to the water. Last year, the rally was only along the Strand (which obviously covers a lot more area than just what's pictured above). But this year, they're expanded to Harborside and the piers. There was a huge concert stage set up out there and lots of other stuff. It's going to take a lot longer to peruse all the vendor stands this time around. Usually nothing I'm interested in - in regards to bike stuff, cuz I'm not at all a biker-type. But sometimes, there's other good stuff that you wouldn't expect to see on sale for bikers.

Anyone who comes down for this, hope ya have fun! Stay safe! And I'm sure rain won't be an issue. I'll be there tonight. I'll wave at the cam. :)
