Police surround Irving supermarket
From Staff and Wire Reports - The Dallas Morning News
Two Irving supermarket employees escaped with their lives after armed robbers tied them up early Thursday.
Police spokesman David Tull said the suspects entered the Carnival Food Store at Grauwyler and Nursery roads around daybreak.
The two workers managed to slip out of their bonds and escape, leaving the gunmen alone inside the store.
Tull said police and special-tactics officers surrounded the store and were planning to search the interior.
More than two dozen police cars surrounded the shopping center while police conducted their investigation.
Carnival, a subsidiary of Minyard Food Stores, has 25 locations in North Texas and caters to Hispanic customers.
No injuries were reported.
WFAA ABC 8 and the Associated Press contributed to this report.

My oldest son used to work for Winn Dixie grocery store near our house. One evening just before closing , someone put a gun to my son's head from the back and told him to show them where everyone was. They used my son to get everyone into the produce cooler before then going after the money in the office. No one was hurt but it turned out it was a former employee who had been fired sometime earlier. My son said he was scared so bad that he almost passed out when he felt the gun barrel on the side of his head.
