3 dinner guests question
A friend and I were having a conversation and I was so fascinated by one of the questions, I thought I would ask you all.
If you could have any 3 guests to dinner- ( assuming your family is already there) who would you invite?
I'll start. After much contemplation, I would say Jesus, Mel Brooks and Celine Dion. Now that would be unforgettable.
(After writing, I should have added that I, in no way, hold Mel, Celine, myself or my family as high as Jesus. Just would like to have him as part of the group I would hypothetically invite.)

Hmmm, the CEOs of Exxon, Mobil, and Shell Oil Companies, and then charge them $1500.00 a plate. Of course there would be a price hike by dessert of another $100.00 since it was rumored that there might be a shortage of cooking apples, it was apple pie of course. Never mind that the pie was already made, apples and all.

It certainly is tough losing family members. My dad died in June of 1986 and I didn't think to include him.
It would be really nice to see him again, though. Every time I hear "Old Time Rock and Roll" or see an EMT I think of him.
Well, as my fake invitations have already gone out, at least he would see my dinner party from heaven!!!

No need to be embarrassed, CP.
Lew Hunter is a screenwriting professor at UCLA who wrote one of THE books on the trade. He also wrote the screenplay for "If Tomorrow Comes" (which happens to be a Patty Duke flick) and "Fallen Angel" (a made-for-TV movie that I liked the first time I saw it and have watched numerous times while studying his book to understand the script outline). Another favorite made-for-TV movie of mine is "Two Mothers For Zachary," which I recorded the first time it aired on ABC because the subject matter interested me, I was intrigued about seeing Valerie Bertinelli play a gay woman, and I was going to be at work and didn't want to miss it. After I watched it the first time, I watched once more (it was soooo good) and realized just what was good about it -- the script, the character development, how every line was necessary to the story. It followed Lew Hunter's style to a T and was laid out like "Fallen Angel" (plot points at the right time - conflict, resolution, etc) but it wasn't Hunter who wrote it. A few years later, thanks to the internet, I looked up the writer (Linda Voorhees) and found out she was once a student of his (that explains the style similarity) and is now a screenwriting instructor at UCLA also.

That about says it for me too Mary. There are many more but those would definitely be at the top.
As you know I have a HS Senior this year. One question colleges ask in interviews is - dead or alive, who is the one person you'd like to meet and why? I've asked my daughter questions like this, to prepare her for interviews, etc. She's the one that convinced me John Lennon needs to be on a list like this! She's such a Beatles and John Lennon fan, more than I ever was! But seriously, I'd be very humbled and honored to meet JL. And yes she chose JL too, b/c he stood for peace and that is something we sorely need in this world today. Her words, not mine.

Hmmm.... I really should think about this more, but heres my first instinct...
1. Jesus
2. Mohammed
3. Dylan McDermott
I would love to see the first two discuss the current situation in the world, and resolve their differences peacefully... then I would send them away, arm in arm, to heaven.... and keep Mr McDermott all for myself

Whew! I thought I was the only one out there thinking of myself! Thanks! I needed that.
