Folks, my daughter and her husband will soon be moving to Charlotte. Is there anyone on the board from Charlotte or anyone who has lived there previously. We are trying to figure out the areas she might prefer to live in. Basically a low crime area, can be in the city though, near a college would be nice but not a requirement, an area easy to get to by main roads since her hubby will be traveling a lot. Anyone go any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions?

MomH I know we have some folks from the Charlotte area as members here. They may not frequent this forum. You might want to browse through HH forum and/or check profiles and see if anyone has Charlotte listed as the place they are from.

Charlotte is great. If you ask my husband, he would mention Nascar 1st, but there is so much more!! My husband had a job opportunity there a few years back (1998/1999). At the time, he wanted to stay on the corporate end, so we didn't end up moving there. However, while we were in town, we looked at places to live and were considering Pineville, NC. It is basically a southern suburb of Charlotte. If they have dogs, it was a good place to find a rental if they aren't ready to buy yet.

To give you an idea of what we were looking for in an area, here was some of our criteria: Close to a mall / grocery shopping, middle class quiet neighborhood-we got parties out of our systems in college!-pet friendly, and expressway driving to downtown. It didn't hurt that Carowinds would have been close during the summer!!
I don't know if that would be a long drive, but it is a hop, skip and a jump from I77.
