Need Adresses for Christmas Cards!

#1 Postby furluvcats » Fri Nov 05, 2004 11:49 am

Its about that time again...last year was really special as many of us exchanged Christmas cards via snail mail...it was pretty cool to go to the box and find a card handwritten from Stephanie, or Linda...Dennis and Michelle, or Azskymans family...etc... I had done a good job at keeping all the envelopes with addresses in my desk drawer, but when we moved, they seem to have become lost in the masses, and I am requesting addresses again, sent to my email at FURLUVCATS@AOL.COM. I'm gettinf started on my cards now, hoping to get a head start as it looks like we'll have alot of company through the holiday season...So, take this oppurtunity to post your email addy and request addresses as well...and please email me your address! This may be a good one for a sticky too, Chad or Marshall, or someone.

We have a good friend that sends her xmas cards out early. They traditionally arrived the Friday after Thanksgiving. I don't know how she timed it so perfectly, but year after year, her card came first. And year after year, I teased her, noting in my return card she won the prize of "first card received" in my xmas card collection.

That was until last year! Jim's brothers wife who has professional pics taken of their child every 3 months it seems like (and sends them out to the entire family, another story) sent her card, child's pic with Santa on front, ~before~ Thanksgiving. In my xmas card to our friend I told her the sad news - she has serious competition!!!

I have the impression our friend's home is already decoated before Thanksgiving too. I've been known to put up my outdoor lights, when it's not so cold, but wait to turn them on after Thanksgiving is over.

Well, Martha would be proud of Brian Shannon. LOL

Isn't the rule is put up your Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving and take them down January 7th (Epiphany)?

Miss Mary and LaPlaceFF,

I'm sure you are right about putting up the decorations--but I love the people who leave their lights up from year to year... My mother would always see that and growl that they were "tacky." But then I guess that I secretly LIKE tacky...

Actually, I finally met someone who does leave them up and learned that the lights are neat for summer parties, stuffed under patio umbrella, etc. (this friend gives wonderful parties)...

Also, they do actually change the decorations--many of them--for Four of July the lights are red white and blue, for halloween they are orange, etc.--but lots of fun.

But driving around and seeing these decorations--no matter whether they are tacky or not--always makes me happy...

Hey S2K Family, :)

I love exchanging Christmas cards, too, so just PM me! :)

((((HUGS))))

This year Mom wanted to start earlier on the holiday decor...so this month and next we can enjoy it for a long time unlike past years when we started setting up a couple days after Thanksgiving! :D

This year we have an addition which is an Advent Tree w/ a beautiful ornament to add to the tree each day. :)

Eric :)

Here's a question.....is it possible to collectively PM close friends you have here at Storm2K (with your home address)? I've often wondered that before but never saw an option. That would cut down on sending out a dozen or so PM's?

Thanks...

No, I don't think sending mass PM's is an option on this board. :( It would be really helpful if it was though. Could come in handy in a number of situations...but you do have a good point. :)

Christmas??? YIKES!!!

LOL, well, I don't suppose it could hurt to
start getting the card list ready, eh? ;)

And, LaPlaceFF, I believe you are right in
regards to the Christmas tradition with decorating.
