This just irks me some. I don't know if this is because, its my employeer or because the kid might get off easy for doing it even though they say charges will be brought against him.

A 10-year-old was charged with second-degree arson and criminal mischief Monday night after a fire at Dick's Sporting Goods caused $40,000 in damage, according to DeWitt police Sgt. Mark Burlingame.
Police and fire officials said a lighter was used to set fire to a rack of camouflage hunting clothes.
The fire destroyed the clothes, and charred a store wall and part of the ceiling before the sprinkler system put it out, according to Gary MacLachlan, DeWitt fire chief.
"They sustained serious damage," MacLachlan said of the store, which is at one end of ShoppingTown Mall.
The store was closed Monday night because of damage from fire, smoke and water. MacLachlan was unsure when it would reopen.
Paul Newman was working at Dick's about 4:30 p.m. Monday when the fire began.
He said each of the camouflage outfits costs about $200 and about 20 of them were on the rack.
On Sunday, another ShoppingTown Mall store was burglarized and about $160 to $170 was stolen, Burlingame said. Police do not know if the two incidents are connected; both are still under investigation.
The 10-year-old, a runaway from Syracuse, was found in the mall shortly after the fire broke out Monday. He had no cash but did have several receipts in his pocket from things such as toys and candy, Burlingame said.
Police interviewed the boy and his parents late Monday night. He was released into his parents' custody, Burlingame said.
The case is likely to end up in Family Court.
Often, juveniles charged with such felonies are candidates for Hillbrook Detention Center, Burlingame said.
"But I don't like putting kids in there," he said. "If I'm convinced they (parents) can keep this kid at home, he can go home. He has a decent home life."

It sounds like this child has no parents...at least none that care about him. If they put the little boy in a detention center (although a foster home would probably be a better choice), the authorities should also put his parents in jail (of course, this story has all the markings of a broken and severely dysfunctional home...i.e.- mom's on drugs, and no father to be found

oh no? that's a pretty general statement.
as for intentionally burning down a building:
Police and fire officials said a lighter was used to set fire to a rack of camouflage hunting clothes.
Not that THAT isnt troublesome, but not all bad kids are results of a bad environment. Some kids are just BAD.
