Much Ado About Something… Finally

It’s official… TIME Magazine has finally woken up to and belatedly declared the fact that the Islamists wish to do us harm and that they might actually have access to Weapons of Mass Destruction to do this with. Though from just what source all these suddenly worrisome WMD have been gathered seems to be regarded by their top-notch expert journalists on staff as the Liberal version of the Immaculate Conception.
Then take the amazing wake-up call that a Denver television gave a couple weeks ago to their spellbound audience that said, oh-my-gosh-and-golly; the Islamists can devise many deadly weapons from the industrial materials right here in town. This expose featured the same risks that I discussed with the students at a local high school in the immediate aftermath of the WTC and Pentagon attacks. Looks like one of those youngsters found some work.
Unfortunately, much of this current ado is far more about covering the behinds of media executives and their talking heads rather than investigative journalism or serving the public good, as what we are currently seeing is too little and far too late for this go around.
But these stories are really not too surprising considering the lack of emphasis that we as citizens have placed upon preparedness… which is to say that we have preferred that the federal government take care of that pesky old terrorist situation and not bother us… oh yes, and while you’re at it make sure not to ‘profile’ any young Middle Eastern men, as they make up a such a tiny percentage of the American population not to mention that they are delicate creatures and ever so over-sensitive about such things, so mustn’t be upset.
One problem at hand for the taken-for-granted federal nannies is how to deal with the issues of designing appropriate and effective protective measures, the integration of public and private sector security capabilities as well as creating a workable level of awareness in the general public so that they might actually contribute, rather than hinder, our ability to safeguard ourselves.
The other problem set concentrates more on offense than defense. Because only playing strict defense against terrorists is to eventually lose… and against this particular bunch of sweethearts, that is not an option to be safely considered. I will say that if I, and others like me, were playing for the other side we would be having a field day because of the lack of attention to offense… so many places to strike, organizations to hide behind and a very terrorist-friendly media to boot.
Let us take a look at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) that has grown into the overly expensive, cumbersomely ineffective and politically correct white elephant that I predicted over three years ago in 2001. The currently emasculating issue with the precious little TSA bureaucrats in charge is not to ‘offend’ any group and especially not any potential terrorists, so as an plausible alternative they insist upon making sure to search as many little old white-haired grandmothers from Minnesota as possible. You might think that since 9-11 that the TSA folks in Boston have gotten it together, but such is not the case… after all, the WTC attack plan is so passé.
Speaking of effective actions that are lower cost, the politically incorrect act of immediately expelling every foreign-born Imam, Mullah and Islamic teachers that are not US citizens would be a logical expedient, especially considering the types and level of exhortation towards violence towards non-Muslims that they routinely espouse. The Wahabbi financed and directed Maddrassas (religious schools) form the essential backbone of recruitment for Islamist terrorist groups across the globe. Removing or interfering with their dependable source of recruits (especially in our prisons) would go a long way toward reducing the threat over time.
Then there is the issue of what to do with the terror organization that has been a building North America for the past couple of years. The Liberal press has bent over backwards to placate the whining of the multitude of Islamist-enabling organizations nationwide and internationally.
I could easily go on for several hundred pages detailing all the issues that we face in getting our act together where the rubber meets the road, but that is not the point here.
In all likelihood we are quite soon going to get an object lesson of the true costs of being unprepared during an unconventional war. Intelcenter did a viable analysis of comparing credible Islamist threats from their senior leadership with the timing of the resulting attack… they found that there was an 80% probability of an attack within 67 days… and we are a couple weeks into that period of high probability since Osama’s last videotaped threat.
We all need to understand that we have a long way to go up our national learning curve regarding how to wage this war successfully… some very tough lessons that life as it really is has little relationship to the ‘Liberal’ ideals enshrined by the media and the metrosexual.
It’s a very harsh world out there folks and session number two is about to be administered. We are going to keep repeating this particular life lesson until we master it.
Heads up…
