A True Big Mac Attack: Man Allegedly Assaults Clerk With Hamburger

Dispute Stems From Manner Of Paying For Burger

POSTED: 12:55 pm EST December 8, 2004
UPDATED: 10:40 pm EST December 8, 2004

ROCHESTER, N.H. -- A Maine man was charged with assault after allegedly attacking a Rochester store clerk with a hot hamburger.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Tony Carr, 37, of Berwick, Maine, after he allegedly attacked Cumberland Farms clerk Scott Lizenberger Nov. 28 with a steaming hot hamburger fresh out of a microwave.

Police said Carr wanted to pay for a burger while it was cooking in the microwave. But the clerk said he had to have the burger on the counter in order to pay for it.

Carr allegedly became angry and grabbed the burger from the microwave and shoved it -- bun and all -- in the clerk's face.

"We were getting conflicting stories," Sgt. Gary Turgeon said. "There was an independent eyewitness who backed up the clerk's story, so the officer filed a complaint, warrant and affidavit."

The charges Carr faces are misdemeanors and could mean up to one year in county jail. Police said the clerk did not require medical attention.

Wait...this incident occurred on November 28th....Thanksgiving weekend, so I understand perfectly...

Poor ole Tony was just so sick and tired of leftover turkey he couldn't wait for his burger. IMO it was temporary "post-turkey day" insanity, complicated by the fact he was in a "fowl" mood

We had a similar situation here in Houston yesterday where a city employee got belligerant about his Subway sandwich and basically assualted the manager with it. Guess who is on administrative leave till the "investigation" is finished? I wish my life was so uncomplicated I had the time to get so worked up over some food that I would assualt someone about it!NOT!!!! Can we say anger management issues???

You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant ('ceptin' Alice!)
Walk right in it's around the back
Just a half a mile from the railroad track
You can get anything you want, at Alice's Restaurant

..and let's not forget those 27 8x10 color glossy photos with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one!

Actually, the TV show "Alice" (which takes place in Phoenix and in "Mel's Diner") is based on the movie "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore." Vic Tayback played Mel Sharples in both.

"Alice's Restaurant" was an Arlo Guthrie song and movie.
