on a high note...

#1 Postby pawlee » Sat Dec 25, 2004 9:57 am

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! holey moley, Christmas rules and all but talk about exhausting! sitting here at this early hour, hardly have enough time to drop an email. just did an inventory as to how many people i hooked up with cards and gifts this season bringing the total to 90. as for dollars spent, i lost count but who cares, this is so much FUN! i can imagine many of you have gone and burnt the midnight candle too and especially those with kids. despite only five hours rest, this is indeed going to be a good day. i wish it could be Christmas every day of course then we'd all lose our minds from the stress... :)

in drawing news, pleased to show my final portrait of 2004. to be presented to my girlfriends mother, the individuals depicted are her mothers father, brother and an infant all of whom are deceased. the infant who would've been the older man's daughter (or mothers sister) was stillborn. only one person saw this baby and remarked that she had very dark wavy hair.

this idea was that of my girlfriend and in thinking about the challenge of basically creating an image of a loved one never seen, i wasn't sure if it was a good idea. it's pretty bold to put an image into others heads and especially when no one can really imagine the subject including me. in honestly praying about it, the appropriate way to convey the scene became crystal clear.

the men are spliced from seperate photos and the baby/man's arm was a completely seperate construct.

with that being said, this is indeed a very important piece for the fact that i wish to join this family. massive changes will be coming into play for me in 2005 for i am pleased to announce that although we have truly skipped bases, my girlfriend and i are expecting. :)

like anyone in our shoes, we're nervous and anxious yet VERY excited and looking forward to all that lies ahead. this came as no accident and for me here now at 31 when i am ready settle, i am grateful beyond measure that it is with this special woman whom i've known for many years.

best wishes to all for a WONDERFUL, SAFE, MEMORABLE and JOYOUS CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY!!!

thanks sky but me n' jami went our seperate ways over the summer. the woman i am with now is named "mandi". i didn't even think about the "many years" factor possibly referring to her. i don't know where jami is these days but i do know she isn't too fond of mandi or the relationship we have (that's putting it lightly). when the fallout occurred between us, it was pretty rough but i do wish all the best for jami despite our differences. btw sky, i was poised to send you a card but i misplaced your mailing address.

thanks to all for your words of kindness. sorry to have not contributed in awhile. i see too that i need to fix my avatar. dumped alot of files from my webhost and i suppose that went with. definitely still on top of Central IL weather which i hope i can work around on when the baby comes.

Pawlee - congrats to you and Mandi! Very happy for you.

You are so talented, but then we always thought of you! Steve has sung your praises many times, after the wonderful drawing of Emma you did.

Congratulations Paul! May God bless you and your new family.

The drawing is incredible. You are so gifted.
I have a friend of a friend who is an artist and does bereavement sketches for families who've lost a loved one. It's a special gift that they will treasure always.

believe me, nothing to be sorry about. knowing the trouble i endured after the breakup, it was a great relief we did not marry. after taking time to regain my bearings as a single man, i feel i am blessed to now be embarking on a new life journey with a woman who brings me considerable joy.

many thanks again for all of the compliments, just doin' my thing and getting along like everybody else. :)
