Arrive alive...don't drink and drive!

As a proud member of the Designated Driver Squad, may I remind everyone to take a chill pill and call a cab or ask a sober friend for a ride if you're partying wild tonight.

Don't drive if you had even ONE -- unless you give it time to work through your system. For the average person, one drink (one 8 oz glass of wine, one 12 oz beer, or a mixed drink with 1 oz of hard liquor) requires 1 hour and 15 minutes to get "out of your system." Of course, the more you have, the longer it takes.

Even if it's someone else's fault and they're the more intoxicated of the two, it's not worth the risk of injury to you or someone else (AFLAC!!), damage to your car, the increase on your auto insurance, or the scar on your record if you have had enough to register on a breathalyzer or with a blood alcohol test.

Just don't risk it! Too many other idiots out there who won't be heeding this advice. Don't be one of them! Or else feathers will fly and I'll come out there and hang ya by your wings! :x

Take care, everybuddy!!

This will probably blow up into an arguement; but knowing the risk I'll ask anyway...

What is the real point of drinking a beverage to the point that it intoxicates oneself?

Thanks for the reminder, Shawn. We're staying home tonight.

Ya got me, Tom. My mom did it so much that I really never understood it myself.

Had two Smirnoff's before midnight and a glass of champagne a little after midnight. Didn't have anything for the next 2 1/2 hours before we left the party. I think I could probably blow a .00 now.

It helps you lose your inhibitions. I'm normally a pretty shy person, but the alcohol gets me talking. But only a couple of drinks, just enough to loosen up. At least that's how I handle it now, but age has made me wiser -- it's one thing when you're 22, another when you're 34. Getting sloppy drunk is not an attractive sight on anyone, and I can probably count all those times in my life on one hand.

Good question Tom. Some people develop a dependency on alcohol..as I did. Drank like a fish for the better part of 15 years and finally stopped about 4 and a half years ago.

I have survived New Year's, but not surprising when you stay home, watch movies, and sip Ammaretto on the rocks. My...how my life has changed. (thank you to my wife)
