Bad Hair Days!!!

#1 Postby sunny » Tue Jan 04, 2005 8:48 am

I think a new law should be created giving women at least two days off per year for "bad hair days". It's foggy here, and even my "Grace Kelly" scarf didn't help. Oh, well, thank God for hair clamps!!!

Oh my Cindy, you'd better run and hide. I think the men will just hop all over this one!!!

I can understand your frustration (I've sworn off hairdressers right now, after an awful scalping last June, another topic, another day)! I just don't trust them! We actually started a few Hair topics, if you dig back a several pages over on the Comm. Forum.

Not just a lady problem there...seems at times that Clay Aiken doo is really IN for us guys...I have to do battle with some renegade follicles at times using some gel and water mix in a spray bottle! LOL

And quite honestly if men have a bad hair day, they just apply goop (what I call it), intentionally sticking parts up, and away they go. That looks handsome actually! Try that on a woman over the age of 30 and well, it looks odd!

We saw a local band play a few months ago. The lead singer, obviously a geek in HS, sorry but it was so plain to see, has this charisma now. His hair was a mess! Had this flip thing going on and we all talked about it later. Said it looked like a 70s bed head flip thing (circa Brady Bunch or similar show). But to to all the age 21+ girls in attendance, they were going nuts over this guy!!! We baby boomers were quite amused by this.

I'll go dig up a link for this band. Of course the lead singer had on a lame button down shirt too to complete the look. Again, it worked well, b/c he was on a stage. Sitting like this in History class years ago, probably didn't help him one bit!

lol - you are so right Miss Mary! With a woman's hair - it seems the more you fool with it - the worse the mess gets!! And my hair is fine, so if I put TOO much in it, it creates a whole other problem!! But somehow I don't think a baseball cap would go very well with my pretty blue suit!!!

Perhaps if it was a pretty blue baseball cap? :D

The fashion with guys over here at the moment definitely seems to be spiking the hair up with gel. Unfortunately that doesn't work for me - if I try that I just end up with a glob of goop on the top of my head.

Cindy - yeah I can see where a baseball cap wouldn't do for work. Dang!!!

Were you a fan of Dharma & Greg? If so, maybe you can wear your hair like she did in the beginning - with clips all over it, but disguising bad hair? I always thought that was cute. My oldest daughter can pull it off. Can I? LOL - NO!

Here's the band I was talking about....feel bad about calling the lead singer a geeky guy in HS now. He's the member on the far right. Hard to see his hair somewhat.

lol - James, maybe I could try to "design" some girly baseball caps!!

My nephew has gotten the spike thing with the hair down to an art. When he came over from college over the holidays, he taught his 10 year old brother how to do it!!

Sometimes their hair looks sharp enough to puncture stuff on, lol. A lot of people at school decide to dye the tips of the spikes blond. Do you have that much in your area?

Actually, yes! I have noticed a lot of the younger males with the tips dyed!! How styles change!! I still remember the "big-hair" days - it's a wonder I have any hair left on my head with the amount of hairspray I used to use. I could have probably used my hair as a weapon...

James - I rarely see the spike thing at local alt rock shows. But in local punk rock shows, it's possible. We had a national musical showcase here last September (called Midpoint, 250 bands, conference, trade show, etc.) in downtown Cincinnati. One trade show guest had spiked hair - he really stood out!

Well, it certainly is very distinctive. It can look really cool if it's done right.

Sometimes a bad hair day in one's own opinion is a good hair day in another's. :)

I know some people (my blonde boss, for one, and a couple of good friends of mine) who have long, curly hair. However, they like to blow it dry so that it's completely straight. On occasion, I've seen it curly and I like it...a lot. They just get out of the shower and let it dry naturally. Or, sometimes, if it's raining hard, it curls back up even if it was straight to begin with. Haven't you guys ever noticed how gorgeous some women look (in movies or on TV) when they come out of the rain or get out of the shower and run their fingers through all those thick long curls?

Another good friend of mine who has gorgeous thick long dark hair recently told me also that her hair is curly when it's wet. I'm still recuperating from imagining it.

Trust me, even when you think as few as three strands are out of place, they might just look perfect to someone else. :)

That's very true.

Talking about curly hair, mine is curly. I hate it like that! I try and keep it straight, but often fail, lol.
