BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A mother forced her 12-year-old daughter to drink bleach for having sex and sat on her until the child died, a police detective said, adding that a 9-year-old brother was forced to watch the attack.

Detective Warren Cotton's testimony came Thursday in a preliminary hearing for Tunisia Archie (search), 31, of the Wylam neighborhood, who is charged with capital murder in the asphyxiation death of Jasmine Archie (search). If convicted, she could be sentenced to death or life in prison without parole.

Archie was disturbed, Cotton said, because "her daughter told her that she was no longer a virgin."

She said she poured bleach into Jasmine's mouth and the child vomited, he said.

"She told me that she sat on her chest until she stopped breathing," Cotton said.

Jasmine was 5 feet 10 and weighed 240 pounds, while the mother is tall and slender. But the medical examiner ruled that Jasmine died from asphyxia (search), which is caused by suffocation, and was found dead, on her back, in her bedroom.

The mon was wrong, no doubt

However, what disturbs me more is that the mom did her job so poorly that her 12 year old daughter had sex. She should be hung before the entire town for horrible parenting

Not to drift this thread to another subject, but 12 years old is pretty early for dating, much less sexual intercourse. That mother definitely had issues: Bad parenting leading to her daughter being sexually active, and then punishing her the worse way for the preventable actions of her daughter.

This statement is way out of line. I live in Alabama and love it. I can post news stories from ANY state that would make you sick. No need for the attack on my Home state. :grrr:

I looked at this earlier today. I was greatly sicken by it. I wish this witch would be killed slowly the same way she killed that little girl. I wish some one would full this #@$$ with the same stuff she killed her little girl. I'm still sicken at this after 12 hours. If I was the dad I would personally sit on this #$@@ The same why she did with that little Girl. My this sicking piece of horse #$$% rot in #$%#.

let me predict something here. the defense will generate sympathy for this woman and they will come up with some "syndrome" that made her do it. the jury will feel sorry for her and she will get a light sentence. she should be executed, but i fear her sentence will be much less than that. susan smith should be planted in the ground now, but, oh well.

I believe this is terrible, and she should die for it..Anyway, my view is probably jealously.. Yeah thats right, she was jealous, because the daughter got some, and she didnt.. The mother, as it says, is slender, while the daughter, is over 200 pounds at 12 years old..Thats way too big for that age, and unhealthy.So the mother probably wasnt getting any, and to find out her fat-A- daughter was, she got jealous, and killed her off. sad sad sad, thats how I see it.

I doubt it. She was probably an abusive mom from the start and jealousy had nothing to do with it. She just went overboard this time.

Extremely disturbing ohiostorm. When I first read it on CNN's website, I was so shocked. Similar to Shawn's thinking, I immediately thought there had to be a pattern of abuse for this to escalate to this level. This is pure evil, IMHO. What that poor girl had to endure.

And there are two victims here - her brother is the other one. He's only what 9 and witnessed the entire murder. He will never be the same again either.

Very, very sad story.

The bleech this was horrible enough but sitting on here till she died is just insanity. And for doing it at all is just rediculous. Not like her daughter went out and shot someone or doing insane amounts of drugs. Not saying sex at that young of an age is OK, but come on.
