New $20 bill

#1 Postby cycloneye » Tue May 13, 2003 1:51 pm

It will be out in the fall and it will not be all green but in different colors to secure them from falsification.

The Bureau isn't sure what color yet...but it looks like I'll be playing Monopoly for a lifetime!

I saw, just a few minutes ago, what the new $20 bill is going to look like. It looks pretty cool, actually. Better design.

I give it two days and it WILL be duplicated. They gave us this same song and dance when they changed the bills and a day later someone in Texas was already passing around fake money. They are like terrorists, you can't stop crooks.

Some of the counterfeiters that are out there (for the wrong reasons) are more determined than many people living correctly. Since counterfeiting has gone high tech in the last 10 years, and some of the determined counterfeiters will find a way, and there's not much anyone can do about it unless they're caught. So I pretty much agree with Lindaloo.

I think that it's going to be mostly green with other colors included. I posted before that this is not good. The current generation of currency was supposed to be counterfeit resistant and is not that old. That means that the bad guys are getting the upper hand again and confidence in our currency is beint eroded again. At this rate, we'll all be wearing bar codes on our bodies and we will have to be scanned to access our accounts.

I give it two days and it WILL be duplicated.

If it can be made in the first place, then it can be duplicated in half that time

I agree Chad. The true high tech people won't be stopped because they have access to the same tools and technology. This isn't a new thing, the Germans printed millions of fake dollars in WWII. It's also not a situation unique to the US. I remember that they busted a group in Europe with counterfiet Euro's before it even went into circulation! This is just another case of the cops and robbers playing a game they've played for years. Life goes on. :-)

The one dollar bill never even printed new bills with "a larger George Washington" and now the twenty dollar bill is already being changed.

Who would waste their time forging one dollar bills?

Sorry Mike, I wasn't thinking in terms of forging one dollar bills. I was making a statement about them not being done after the faces on the twenties, tens and fives were enlarged.
