A moment of silence please for my car.

A moment of silence please for my car.
I came to the conclusion that the overheating problem was in fact a head gasket. I repeatedly purged "air" out from behind the thermostat. It just kept coming back. Removed the thermostat and ran the car. Lots of little bubbles in the coolant. That wasn't air that was behind the thermostat. That was exhaust.
The straw that broke the camel's back: The starter died on Saturday.
175,000 miles. That's a respectable old age for an american car. Time for that one-way trip to the auto salvage yard, with a $50 check in hand on the return trip.
Rode the bus to and from work today. One transfer each way. $2.00 for an all day pass. Actually cheaper than putting gas in a car!
Time to take out a 401k loan and get the other car fixed. That's another thread!

Get out of town Daylily! Mine is a 93 Sundance! Hey, do you need a "parts car?"
-Brand new alternator, battery, a new used radiator, good body parts (maroon), and of course a REALLY new thermostat.

Unless the engine runs good , no!
My hubby may take it out and put it out of its misery if our oldest son didn't need it to back and forth from work. Hubby is driving my car, 93 Dodge Intrepid, been taken care of. I wish we still had the car we traded in on the Intrepid. It was a 77 Grand Marquis that we bout in 1983 for 3500.00. By the time we traded it , it still hadn't cost us as much in repairs as we paid for it. One oil pumnp and two transmissions was it.
