Student Says 'Roo Rage' On The Rise In Australia
SYDNEY, Australia (KXAS NBC 5/AP) -- Beware of roo rage in Australia.
A post-graduate student said cases of kangaroos attacking humans are on the rise. Guy Ballard said he began logging such attacks after two incidents in 1999 and 2002. His studies of a region north of Sydney show up to 20 reported attacks in the past two years.
Ballard said attacks are rare -- but that kangaroos will attack if provoked. He said an Eastern Grey kangaroo is about the same size as an average man, with sharp claws and strong legs.
