Wow, that is an amazing picture! You must either have a really nice camera, or you've had some experience in photography.

Ahhh, how nice it must be to have roses blooming! I actually just started volunteering at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens here in Madison - I've been assigned to a group that will be planting and tending a brand new rose garden, set to open in time for Father's Day (strange I know, but Mother's day is too early for this far north!). I'm excited to get to plant, prune and clean up around these babies over the next few months, and once I get some pics I'll try to post them on S2K as well.

THANK YOU! ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! :D

I had a lovely rose garden for years in the Chicago area, but I've lost my green thumb with roses here in SoFla. :(

oh deebee - i have been so lucky with them here. you must be trying too hard - i don't have to and i don't have a green thumb. but we did have to put in a lot of good soil for them to grow. it was too sandy for the first ones i planted.

Depotoo -- My rose plants became very leggy; all the leaves became spotted, then turned yellow, then dropped off; but they did keep blooming. I had them on the east side of the house. No signs of bugs, although a few leaves seemed chewed. I trimmed the spent blooms at the 5-leaf nodes to encourage growth and kept them watered regularly. Any suggestions? :?:

Thank you everyone for the kind words. :D

If you look closely at the leaves, you'll see that I haven't been able to solve the blackspot problem with my rose bushes. Seems like the more I try, the worse it gets.

The pictures I took today were with a Minolta Dimage Z2 I bought not long ago. The other pics in the album were taken with a relatively inexpensive digital camera, a Polaroid PD640.

do you guys feed yours bone meal? mine love it and that seems to help as well as i do use insecticide spray about every 3 weeks. seems to keep the leaves from getting spots so far and being chewed alive! one thing is to make certain that the roots are well drained. no standing water. they like their water but don't like it sitting at it's base , they like the sun too.

Bone meal. I'll try that. I use Miracle Grow for roses every two weeks.

The Dimage Z2 rocks. Here's a link with some specs..

I believe it's a Double Delight. One of my older bushes, so I'm not 100% sure.

It's a fungus and I get it on my rose bushes during the summer as well. Make sure that it gets enough sun and air circulating around the bush.
Ortho makes a spray just to combat "black spot". My rose bushes keep blooming as well when it gets it. Is that a "Peace" rose? I think I have the same one in my backyard, though I forgot the name.

Great picture by the way!

Well, it's certainly a beautiful rose whatever it is. The colours are so intense.

Black spot is a real nuisance here. Last summer was a very bad year for it, but thankfully as Stephanie said, the bushes just carry on blooming regardless.
