Baltmores music station 102.7 WQSR is no more!!

#1 Postby weatherfan » Wed May 04, 2005 10:58 pm

Just heard on the 11 o clock news that Baltmores 102.7 oldeys music station has been replace by a new radio station called jack fm.As they have let fired Steve rouse and let crew this morning go.Appernty the owner wanted a new sound to all 4 decades of music played. In my opinion it's one thing to change. But why did it the owner just let them have at least a 2 week notice.Instead they were just out like that.Pretty uncalled for if you ask me.

Happens all the time in the radio industry. Just happened here in Houston about 6 months ago with KLOL FM. Enough of an outcry from the loyal followers has brought the station back under new call letters with almost the same exact staff as before. We are lucky!!

We no longer have an independent alternative rock station in Cincinnati. That supports local music (we have many, many very talented up and coming original music bands right now). Almost all are oldies, classic rock (one station plays Stairway to Heaven on a weekly basis, ugh!) or talk radio. And all are corporate owned.

Sad isn't it?

We're happy with our iPod's and iTunes. Staying current that way. And our two teenage daughters keep us up to date with latest bands and music.

Apparently, they enjoy "jacking" with radio stations. A station in NYC just recently flipped to Jack FM, along with one in St. Louis.
