MY wrists hurt

#1 Postby StormChasr » Sat May 14, 2005 8:48 am

Does that mean that I am spending too much time on the internet?

I deleted your duplicate post.

Do you spend alot of time at a computer (work and recreation)? Could be what the problem is.

That is what I do for a living.....own my computer software design business. Also, this website and others have a contagious aspect to them. :)

My wrists have been sore if I've spent a lot of time on the computer that day. It was REALLY bad the day after the election and the day after Ivan came through.

Well, let's see......a few years ago I rented an upright carpet cleaner from a relative. Lightweight, easy to operate, unlike ones you rent at Home Depot. I was doing fine, a room every other day. Then all of a sudden I decided this whole house job was taking too long so I did 4 rooms in one day. And a hallway. A day later I paid for it, I couldn't lift the coffee carafe, blow dryer, etc. with my trigger arm, my right without excrutiating pain. And of course I'm right handed. I blew it, not using both hands to operate the cleaning solution, I just kept using the same hand over and over again. Big mistake!

So yeah I know first hand, pun intended, what it's like when you overdo these tendons, ligaments in our arms, wrists and then hands. I couldn't even type back then. I was a mess. But I had clean carpets!

I'm just careful now. The older we get the more I notice this is a real problem. I chipped ice on our driveway this past January, but kept using my left arm to lift the shovel, full of chunks of ice to the side. Few days later, I had pain in my left elbow. Same thing again - pain. And it's still there, a few times a week. 4 months later!

Hope you feel better David!
