3 steps forward...and two steps back...

#1 Postby therock1811 » Wed May 25, 2005 12:40 am

As you guys know, last year, I commented on a personal situation in which I had lost what I thought was my first love, who had been someone I'd gone to school with. Well last Friday was the 9 month anniversary, and I'm happy to say I didn't think of that girl all day. Actually, I had one thought of her, and that was screw her. I am better than her, and I deserve tons better than that. This evening, though, I was going through some stuff and I found several pictures of me and my ex together. I also found an old journal that I wrote in at the beginning of the ill fated 3 month relationship. I sat down and I was crying once again. Around midnight tonight I had a chat with a good friend of mine who told me that anything I have that reminds me of my ex, has got to go. So, tomorrow (later today actually), it's all going out. I don't need it anymore and all it's doing to me is just bringing back the memories. It's all got to go. My friend once again reminded me, that I am better than that and I deserve a lot better than I got last year. What my ex did to me, proved that she didn't care less about me. But I know there are a few good people who do, some more than others. But they all mean something to me, and I appreciate it more than they will EVER know.

Yes get rid of that stuff. Remember, time will ease your pain. Also, everything happens for a reason, one day you will look back and realize why this happened. I wish you the best.

Yeah. I want to look back one day way down the road and say I handled it the best way I could. It's been a long road to this point so far.

Everytime I hear a story like yours I think about a song by Garth Brooks you may remember "thank God for unanswered prayers". That song describes what I was trying to say above.

It is not a good thing to keep reminders of of a failed relationship around. It does nothing to help you stay positive. So get rid of the items and face life with a positive attitude.

Old, but true rule of thumb..."Be ruthless with your discards".

Jeremy, you know where I stand on this subject. Those old reminders will just bring those sad memories back. DUMP THEM, BURN THEM Take all your frustrations out on them and then THROW THEM IN THE TRASH!!!

Back in April 2nd when I was falsely accused of looking at stuff on the Budget Suites cyber cafe (therefore being banned as the end result), it was 3 steps forward and 5 steps back. I'm already writing my own case about it which...needless to say...doesn't add up. Until I find some real answers, I'm considering their Cyber Cafe to be non-existing.

Those things are trash like she was now. I knew I could do it. I didn't need those things anyways. I mean, like Karan said, all they were doing was bringing back the old memories. Now, I will be free to concentrate on what is ahead of me. I am going to make 2005 the best year I have ever had so far! Thanks for the comments guys and gals.

Immediately after I broke off with my first (AND probably ONLY) girlfriend (Emily )last August, I did similar things. I still remember her, but due to some of her (illegal?) habits, I don't miss her AT ALL!

Life is too short to dwell on one person! It will get better! :)

Jeremy, I'm so proud of you. One thing though, she wasn't trash or you never would have been attracted to her in the first place. I think you have good taste. She was just selfish and thoughtless and not worth your kind and gentle ways. SHE'S HISTORY!!!!!

Karan, in my view, selfishness and thoughtlessness makes you nothing if you're single. That's just me. Others have different opinions.
