Now that we know who Deep Throat is...
...what other unsolved mysteries would you like to see solved in your lifetime?
For me-
1) Where is Osama bin Laden?
2) Who ELSE shot JFK?
3) Where is Jimmy Hoffa's body?
4) Where is Adam Walsh's body?
5) What happened to Amelia Earhardt?
6) How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop?
7) Who put the bop in the bop-shu-wop-shu-wop?
8) What are the 11 secret herbs and spices in KFC's chicken?
9) Why do fools fall in love?
10) Who killed Chandra Levy? (And what I wouldn't get to go back to 9/10/01 when that was the major story in the news....)

Matt Maupin grew up in a neighboring Cincinnati community/suburb - Batavia, Ohio. It would be a comfort to know what happened to him. That entire community is still decked out in yellow ribbons and hold vigils for his safe return.
Thanks Sunny for mentioning him. I think most of us fear the worst in his case but his family and community is still holding out hope he'll be found alive. That in itself is remarkable to see.

What happened to Tim Molnar? He was my friends brother back when I was a kid...as a high school aged student, he just simply disappeared from the face of the earth, from Daytona Beach...to my knowledge he's never been found...unsolved mystery...years ago we saw his story on unsolved mysteries...i wonder if anything ever came of it? This was an early 80's disappearance...

Sit down, Furry, and grab a kleenex and imagine a pair of arms hugging you as you read this. I'm sorry to be the one to post it.

UPDATE: On November 8, 1996, Tim Molnar's parents received confirmation that the remains of a body found in the woods in Neosho, Wisconsin were those of their son. On the night the segment reran on January 31, 1996, a man named Steven Cull called the Unsolved Mysteries phone center after recognizing the description of the clothes Tim was wearing when he disappeared as those on a body he had found in the woods some ten years earlier. (Tim Molnar disappeared from Daytona Beach in 1984.)
Steven Cull contacted the medical examiner in Waukesha County, Wisconsin and they contacted Tim's family. DNA tests ultimately confirmed that the body was that of Tim Molnar. No one knows how he got to Wisconsin or how he died. The Molnar family held a memorial service for Tim and had him buried in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Wow...I guess I had always held out and hoped that he was alive somewhere with amnesia living in another part of the country, or had just been fed up with his life in Daytona and had started over someplace.
I'm a little shaken...this was such a big thing so long ago...I'm glad you investegated this Duckie...it is good to put closure to the mystery...I just wish it had ended differently...Did the article say how long he had been dead? I'll have to look up his brother Frank, who runs the family hotel on the beach when I'm in Daytona again and give him a hug...Not every story has a happy ending, I see...
I just read the link Duckie, and apparently, Frank is a financial consultant now...and not running the family beachside motel as when I last heard news of him...

I wanna know what happened to Amelia Earhart, and I would like to see them find more info about the Bermuda Triangle.

I remember a 20/20 piece on a missing child. This was long before we had a string of missing children in this country (at least 5 years ago). I can't remember where or what year this happened but this is the way the story went:
There was a pre-school end of the year party. Parents/Teachers/Students. Held at the school, at the end of the school day. The mother saw her 5 year old daughter nearby and glanced away. That fast she was gone. No one could find her - no one. This story always stuck with me and I never heard anymore about it. This was also long before the Internet otherwise I would have been able to check on the story.
The mother was interviewed and was so distraught. They showed the little girl's bedroom and it was the same as the last day she was home. My heart broke watching this segment.
Does this ring any bells with anyone? It's just one of those missing children stories that's haunted me. The mother seemed so sincere that I believed her then. And there were witnesses - the mom was right there, not missing at the party.

I tried to do a search on the NCMEC searchable database online. But all the hits I got for missing kids 5-6 years ago either didn't sound like the 20/20 story and/or the abductor was known (non-custodial mother in most cases, or other relative or babysitter). Do you happen to recall in which state it happened, Mary?

Sad story here for the last few years...a young girl Mikala Biggs mysteriously disappeared and has never been found. Must be tragic to have those unanswered questions if you are a parent.
Among troubling and unanswered questions....
Come on now...JonBenet Ramsey. Somebody knows and they are not talking.
That one missing piece of the puzzle with OJ Simpson.
and everyone's favorite missing person, Obama Sin Laden! I fully expect for him to be captured before long. Inside the USA.

I haven't tried it out yet so I can't be sure.
KFC Chicken Secret Spices Recipe
1 tablespoon rosemary
1 tablespoon oregano
1 tablespoon powdered sage
1 teaspoon powdered ginger
1 teaspoon majoram
1 1/2 teaspoon thyme
3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons dry minced parsley
1 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon paprika
2 tablespoons garlic salt
2 tablespoons onion salt
2 tablespoons powdered chicken bouillon; * see note
1 package lipton tomato cup of soup mix
* or 4 cubes mashed There are actually 11 spices in the above combination, but an additional 3 ingredients were necessary to derive that special flavor. Place all ingredeints in blender with on\off spped for 3-4 minutes to pulverise, or rub through a fine strainer. Store in an airtight container so it will not lose potency. Makes about 3/4 cup.
To use with flour: Add 1 oz. mix to cup of flour for coating chicken.
Here is the one for the beans.
KFC BBQ Baked Beans Recipe

Shawn - I can't remember the exact state but I think it was a northern one. Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota? It was just one of those bizarre kidnappings I never heard anything about again. Thanks for trying.

I saw that piece, but I don't remember anything about the people involved. It was horrible what happen, with the mother being right there. Unfortunately, it seems to be happening more and more nowadays.

Sadly, I'm happy to know someone else saw this story. I think I was so shocked that it first happened at such a safe place - a pre-school. Secondly, with the girl's mother sitting right there. If I remember correctly, all the mother did was glance away or turn around to answer someone else, and seconds later she couldn't find her daughter. No one could.
It does seem to be happening a lot more today.
