Awesome model airplane! B-52!

#1 Postby alicia-w » Mon Jun 06, 2005 7:15 am

Now here's a model airplane!

Actually has 8 "real turbines" at about $1500 each!

Took over 2 years to build. It has a wing span of about 22 feet.

Takes multiple pilots, as there are so many things to control.

Think they are nervous during the maiden flight?

Unbelievable that someone would make this - all real turbines! Check
out the movie link below to see the first flight.

If you get tired of watching it fly during the movie and just want to
see whether or not it crashes upon landing, slide the progress bar to
the right...

Notice that he's missing the right wing wheel when he lands...

Really awesome. Such a great rrecreation of the real thing. If I hadn't seen the initial take off and your comments I'd probably mistake it for the real thing except for there isn't a ton of smoke coming out of the engines, especially on take off.

IFI hadn't seen the real thing fly over my house one year when the Sun and Fun Fly in was taking place, I would have thought that was the real thing. It just goes to show you that the price of a toy goes up as the boy turns older.

The crash is disheartening :-( I can't imagine having that much time and effort into a plane and then see it go up in a ball of flames. :-(
