Recommended Albuquerque areas??

#1 Postby alicia-w » Tue Jun 07, 2005 7:22 am

We have been offered jobs in Albuquerque and were wondering what the best areas are to live in. I know where the bad areas are; my stepdaughter and her kids live in one of them. Dont want million dollar homes but looking at 300 - 500K range. Thanks.

Actually, Patagonia is a nice little rural town not far from Nogales-sort of an artists colony type of town nestled in the Patagonia hills and alongside the creek and Patagonia Lake State Park where there's camping, swimming and fishing. Patagonia also has a grandstand seat to some remarkable Summer thunderstorms. ABQ, OTOH is another happening blight upon the Southwestern US landscape with ugly sprawl, developing smog and terrible traffic-much like Phooey-nix here in AZ. Incidentally, ABQ is over 500 miles from here which is a tad more than a hop skip and jump away whereas I live 50 miles from Patagonia.

Corrales, if you want to be in the country, about 10 miles from downtown. Big properties and a rural feel in the city. Around $450-500,000 for something nice.

Northeast Heights near Sandia---mountain setting, and much affordable housing from $300's up to500,000 range.

Yes, i know Patagonia well. we stay at an inn there: the La Frontera.

We are having one heckuva time getting back to AZ. The Army is hiring but doesnt pay relocation expenses like the AF does. We cant afford to move 3000 sf of stuff on our own. Not quite ready to downsize yet. 500 miles is a heckuva lot closer than from NW Florida.
