I just posted at TWC... here's what it said.

I'd like to as a couple questions to the admins, and anyone should feel free to respond. I've watched TWC, and lingered on these boards for awhile, and the boards, in my opinion, is just falling apart. I can understand why you ban some people, it's part of the "buisness", but some things I don't get. Let me explain.

1. You don't allow direct links, correct? Why not? Do you consider it spam? What if I link you to another board, and many members of that board come here. What would I get in return? If you let people link to other places, they may link to yours, therefore helping both boards.

2. The off-topic board. It was here for awhile, then deleted. Why? Is it because your a weather board, and you don't think that should be there? Uh, no. That was a wrong idea, and many that I talked too didn't like it either. It gave people something else to talk about besides weather like current events, and some games(Word Assosiation, etc.). That made you lose many more members, in which I bet you didn't like.

I hope you take into condiseration of some of the things i've brought up. I also hope that the little banning spree i've heard of on other weather messages boards doesn't come and attack me next, nor is this topic deleted. Every single one of us have freedom of speech, and I would hope none of the admins are trying to limit that on the board. I just want some answers, and I bet many other members would too. ;)

Thanks for your time...

David.

I think I make good points. Hopefully they respond, without deletion.

David, I had emailed JohnAdmin a while after the Off-Topic forum was dismantled because of monetary issues. Infopop allowed them to have 100,000 views in a month due to the plan they signed up for. There was over 2 million page views in February ALONE! TWC had to pay out of pocket costs because of the extra views!

"Storm2K has an open immigration policy; no visas, no passports required. If you're a terrorist, we will find out and dismember you in public. If you are a troll, we will send you to the Democratic National Convention. If you flame, we cook steaks over you. Other than that, welcome!"

Well David, if you don't get whacked based on the post itself, your signature should do ya in. "God Bless America" is just way too religious for them.

Have to agree David - your time is limited now. But you brought up some very good points. Which will no doubt fall on deaf ears at wx.com. That's the way TWC wants it, no 2 way communication with members/fans. Just watch our channel and post on our boards, but by OUR rules (which are very strict to say the least, and oddly enforced - almost at random). Links have always been out - they hate that.

Laughed at your "little banning spree", that was a good one!

Mary... it does not say anywhere in the rules that posting links will get you banned. Their rules are just something for show because they actually make them up as they go along.

Well, I'm wrong again - I really thought they frowned upon any links. Learn something everyday!

Well, I think it was weathergeorge's opinion a Weather Channel Off Topic wasn't needed. That's his opinion, I accept that. But if I recall the majority of a core group of regular posters kept asking for an off topic board. The Admin agreed, on a trial basis. The trail basis went on for a long time. Can't come up with a time period but we were having a good time at that off topic board. And then without warning, it was closed. For budget reasons as stated by JohnAdmin. Since we're giving opinions here, I think it took too much attention to monitor the off topic board and TWC didn't care for the topics there anyway, so it was closed. JMHO is all.

Yup... And honestly they do have that right... It is there board... Dont think it was the right decision either, but I am not an admin over there... Only thing the gets me are the bannings with no explanation, and there obvious hatred towards S2K

Links are allowed on TWC as long as they don't point here! GreatOne and Cat5hurricane are even allowed to post links to their sites. It very obvious that TWC has it out for us! We should be flattered!!! :-)

Edit.... I just responded to your post David :-)

Good questions David! I hope you get some answers. I don't understand the rules about links to weather sites either. Some are allowed to stay while others are edited out. There doesn't seem to be a rule just selective enforcement of somebody's whims.

mf_dolphin's weather site

Are you saying it wasn;t appropriate for them to have requested the return of the Off-Topic Forum or that they got banned for doing so? I just want to make sure I understand your post. :-)

It wasn't approatiate(sp?) for them to have.

Well banning someone for requesting they bring back an off topic forum is absolutely absurd, ESPECIALLY if it was Eric. BTW weathergeorge.
