I'm SAD!

#1 Postby Stephanie » Mon Jun 09, 2003 11:20 am

I know not all of us in the USA have been experiencing rain and cloudy days like we have been up here in the Northeast. They said that this has been the WORST 40 DAYS EVER recorded between all of the rain and clouds.

Well, I think this has been affecting me and from what I've read, there has been an increase of calls to doctors with the same complaints of fatigue, sadness, depression, etc. I know I get a wonderful surge of energy when spring has sprung and I'm outside working. Now I feel like we're in a prolonged "winter state". I'm finding I'm also taking more of my anti-depressant, Prozac, but I'm still pretty quiet. There's been a few changes at work that I'm not sure how I feel about them yet. It probably wouldn't be as much of a problem if it has been nicer out.

It makes me sad to hear that you are sad!! A wise man once told me "This too shall pass!" We go through alot of different types of troubles throughout our lives, sometimes we have very tangible reasons for those bouts of depression. But sometimes we just "get the blues", no REAL reason! The weather has a big affect on our moods but sometimes it is just a whole bunch of little things that seem to bring our spirits down. Rest assured my dear, that "this too shall pass". Hang tight and KEEP THE FAITH........the sun will rise and the light will reveal itself at the end of this tunnel.

May you experience all of God's blessings!

Stephanie - this pattern of cool, cloudy and damp weather will soon end. In fact, the sun came out today after a cloudy and rainy weekend! 8-)

I saw on the news that 18 of the first 23 weekends of this year have had rain or snow in Philly. So now it is time to get some dry weather on the weekends!!

Stephanie... I have SAD and I purchased a light box a year or so ago. This past winter was snowy and cold and cloudy, yet I seemed to make it through better. If you have these feeling often it might be a good investment.

I hope you get some sun your way soon! :)

Hey Stephanie, I'm sorry to hear your sad today

If you need another laugh, go to the chat gallery and look at my photograph :D -- then imagine me sitting in the floor playing "tea party" with my 8 year old niece last December...while I was wearing a Santa Claus hat

God Bless You Stephanie....I hope you feel much better very soon :)

Steph,

I will be joining your select "company" shortly; other than today, we have at least six days of projected T-storms to look forward to this week.

Steph...I'm sorry to hear that you're sad. Believe it or not, I've been sad lately due to LACK of rainy weather. I wish I could take some of that rainy weather off your hands...we need it here.

Hang in there and you'll feel better soon. Just know that you have friends here who care about you and if you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to contact me.

Rain and clouds get me down as well, but only after several days of it. The first day, it's actually nice. But then it gets old real quick. Now if we had days of snow...

I think it does have to do with sunlight on the skin, but it may also be a purely psychological thing. When the sun is out, everything appears more lively, and indeed it is. But when it is cloudy and rainy, everything in nature appears less active. It may just be a form of the pathetic fallacy (reverse perhaps?).

Stephanie - sorry you're down in the dumps too! I like a rainy day myself, sounds odd but that's just me. I like to putter around inside, cleaning, painting, and then when it's nice out do yardwork. But I think this is far more than enough of gloomy, rainy days here in Cincinnati! We're fed up. I have one daughter wanting to go to the pool, another trying to talk a friend into going, no dice - water is way too cold. So they're home. The one is sunbathing on the deck, with what little sun pops out every 15 minutes. I swear the minute she put the swimsuit on, the sun went in. Ugh - agree with you. It's depressing as all get out.

I do love a good rainy day to curl up with my computer, ER, book  putter around the house, but not as much as what we've had recently!

I definately notice a difference in myself when it is winter versus the good ol' summertime. SAD doesn't affect everyone, but it's pretty prevalent!

((Hugs)) to you girl. Just think how Noah felt. 40 days and 40 nights. YIKES No think about this, if you increase the Prozac, your appetite will be surpressed and when you finally get to wear that bikini you will look even more terrific.

Think of how lush and green everything is getting. Instead of sitting inside reading, sit on a balcony and watch the weather moving in. Although they're supposed to be bad for ya, I go to the tanning bed every so often. My theory is "tan pudgey people look better than pale pudgey people. lol

I often have to stop myself during these crappy days and think, "It's going to be getting sooooo hot pretty soon that I'll start bitching about the heat!!!!!"

Take care my friend. Chin up. The sun will come out tomorrow.

I'll try to send some sunshine your way.

When I was in Norristown, PA in mid March, it was a dreary week. I don't think there was a day of sunshine. But anyways...Here comes the Sun. Hey, that's a Beatles Song.

Rain, Rain go away, come back another day.
