UPDATE-----Major scare 2 am this morning

#1 Postby bfez1 » Tue Jun 10, 2003 8:39 am

Woke up to loud noises to find an oil refinery 3 blocks from my house on fire. Very scary situation. Then a few minutes later found out the other oil refinery 1.5 mi. from my house had a fire one hour earlier. First thought, terrorism but it was not. Both refineries know the cause of their fires. How much of a coincidence is that? Two fires within 1.5 mi. of each other 1 hour apart. The fire closer to me was a hugh one but I am happy to say there was only one minor injury reported, that of fireman hurt while using the equipment. Oh, what a night.

Update---possible sabotage
FBI has been brought in.
Apparently some kind of note was found saying this would happen. They aren't saying terrorism but possibly an inside job----disgruntled employee???

Wow Bonnie - you leave close to chemical plants too. Always a scarey way to be awaken. Glad no major injuries and you are OK.

Jeez, that's weird! Hope your oil-refining neighbors are a bit
more quiet, tonight!

Bonnie...it is the unknown that scares people most. The what ifs? All the things going through your head.

Although it was a scary and dangerous situation, glad it was not any worse for you and those involved at the plant.

Im glad you are ok and that only one person got injured...............Those kinds of firest are no joke...............I remember one of them back in the late 70s that happend in South Philly almost under what was then the primary way (Bridge) to get into Philly from the Airport when i was a kid..................That was a very nasty fire!...........Anyways im glad everything is ok.............And i will admit that it is very odd to have two of them so close and on the same night no less................
