Site Problems

I'm sure many of you have noticed extremely slow response times and inablility to access the site on occasion. These problems are due to another site on the same server as well as a general server problem that they can't seem to get resolved. I requested that our site be moved to a new server and that should happen today. When they move the site it will be down for approximately 1 hours. Sorry for the inconvience but we have to get the site on a better server.

I don't mind. There is only one other site on the same server? I wonder what the point of that is.

As for "sluggish access"... I have had slower access in the past. In the last half hour, the site has taken a bit of time to load some pages, but technically could be worse and not long lasting over this period of time.

There are multiple other sites on the same server as our site. Apparently, there is one site causing the problems. Our server also came under a "denial of service attack" today as well. Based on further discussions with our hosting service today I have not yet authorized the move. The reson for the delay is that our site may be off-line for up to 24 hours while the move takes place due to the address change required. Our name wouldn't change of course but the IP address change can take up to 24 hours to propogate throughout the internet. We will schedule this change and post a notification when it will occur. Until then we may have periods of slow response.

I honestly figured that is what you meant, Marshall. Many sites on the server... would be nice to know which site is causing the problem with this one and why it is even happening in the first place.

I suppose it is worth not having the site up for 24 hours.

Slow responses are better than no responses at all. Perhaps Sunday would be most appropriate day to have the site down, with the current discussions here now and people less people able to access the site on Sunday.

My 'ole 'puter is draggin' along, at times...I logged off and back
on, several times....tried some other sites, and, they popped

We will announce when the site move will take place. Until them we just have to grin and bear it. Sorry but that's just the way it is . I agree the Sunday will probably be the best time. We'll let you know.

I have requested that the server move take place on SUnday evening the 14th of June. As soon as I have confirmation I will let everyone know.

This Sunday is the 15th, no the 14th. So will this server move take place say... between 8:00pm Eastern, Sunday to 8:00pm Eastern, Monday?

Accessing the site is no problem for me today It has only been a bit sluggish in the last half hour or so, probably because of traffic on the site.
