ALBANY, N.Y. -- There's the flat tax and then there's the fat tax.
New York State Assemblyman Felix Ortiz wants a tax on junk food, video games and TV commercials. The idea is to tax couch potatoes to help fund an obesity prevention program.
But Ortiz's idea doesn't carry much weight with the legislature's Republican leadership.
Ortiz, who's a Democrat, isn't giving up. He says his 1 percent tax would raise at least $1 million to improve the health of the Empire State.
