Driver Free On Bond, On Paid Administrative Leave
AZLE, Texas -- An Azle school bus driver accused of leaving a child on a bus turned herself in to police Wednesday.
Ellen Barnhardt is free on bond. She is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.
Westlee Schneider, 6, woke up from a nap two hours after Barnhardt parked the bus and left June 10. He wasn't hurt.
Police say it was an accident, but it's still classified as a crime.
Azle police Chief Steve Myers said it was the driver's first brush with the law, and he expected her full cooperation.
