WASHINGTON -- A large chunk of marble has fallen from the facade of the U.S. Supreme Court building.
Eyewitnesses said no one was injured when the large chunk of marble fell onto the steps where tourists normally enter the building. Some court visitors were waiting outside and saw the marble crash to the ground.
The large piece of marble fell from the building's facade above the words, "Equal Justice Under Law" just before 10 a.m. Monday.
The justices are meeting as scheduled to issue orders and hear arguments.

If memory serves, we have a building here in Orlando that on a couple of ocassions dropped metallic or other substantial panels onto the sidewalks. I think that the building has or had the nickname "The Copper Dropper".
With all of the buildings around, there will undoubtedly be shoddy workmanship, bad materials, sheer age - or a combination of these - that will result in more incidents.
Another hazard for the city dweller is in winter, when large sheets or chunks of ice can form on those skyscrapers and then break loose.
Ow! Where's the aspirin?
