YOUR 2006 PREDICTIONS

#1 Postby george_r_1961 » Wed Nov 30, 2005 2:46 am

1. Although hurricane season 2006 will not produce as many storms as 2005, it will bring its share of misery. At least one major hurricane will hit the Gulf coast and another will strike the mid atlantic states in August, causing major damage to coastal NC up thru the Delmarva.
2. An investigation by the FBI will result in several prominent congressman being indicted on corruption and bribery charges. The courts will show no mercy and most will recieve lenghty prison terms
3. President Bush will be the victim of an assasination attempt. He will quickly recover however.
4. A powerful nor'easter will batter the east coast in April..wreaking havoc from Florida to New England. Although it would be classified as a cold core low later studies would reveal that it was a powerful subtropical system.
5. Alarmed by the increase in deaths caused by drunken drivers, the federal government enacts laws to require all states to punish first offenders as felons with mandatory prison time and long term loss of license. Second offenders would face long prison terms and a permanent revocation of license. Drunken driving deaths drop dramatically.
6. A moderate earthquake will hit western Virginia and eastern West Virginia. Damage will be light and there will minor injuries.
7.A survey reveals that only 20 percent of Americans can name the Vice President.
8. A popular actor is arrested for drug distribution, shocking the world.
9. Michael Jackson is arrested again for child molestation charges. This time he is found guilty and is sent to prison.
10. A new, affordable drug is approved for AIDS patients, enabling many to live a near normal life.
11. A New England state will enact the death penalty after a series of shocking murders commited by a serial killer. Due to ex post facto this murderer cannot be executed however.
12. Heres one prediction I have great confidence in..Storm2k will continue to grow!

Here's my addition to this thread.

1) G.W.'s ratings will improve all year long, but many will continue to see him as arrogant and out of touch.
2) Oil prices will rise again by late spring...with gasoline settling in to the $2.50 per gallon range.
3) Two days in the first week of April will produce a significant tornado swarm. The lower Ohio River valley will take the brunt of it.
4) Despite dire predictions of "the worst hurricane season yet," there will be fewer named storms but look out Miami, and look out Charleston!
5) Highest praise in the music world will be for a song (or songs) where lyrics, not sound, get our attention. A female artist will sing it.
6) Best movie of the year will NOT be The DaVinci Code.
7) February will be a snowy month in the northeastern half of the country after rains and snows also finally arrive in California and the Southwest during the second half of January.
8) A holdover from last year...one of the original Friend's cast will be hit with a lifechanging event.
9) Thousands of troops will be coming home from Iraq...only to be "on call" for the next hotspot which will not be Iran.
10) The number "56" will take on some signficance...not sure why, when, or how...but it will.
11) S2k will get some interest from an established "weather community."
12) A new weather BOOK will hit the stands and create a lot of interest....and no, it won't be something I publish.

1. The winter of 2005-'06 will be an overall mild one in the SE similar to the 2004-'05 one.
2. Indianapolis Colts will be the Super Bowl champions.
3. The 2006 Atl/Car/GOM tropical season will be a lot less active.
4. Iran will surrender it's nuclear program while North Korea maintains a stubborn stance in the international scene.
5. S2K Games Forum will have unusually higher than normal activity during the much quieter tropical season.

Ok, I'm going to give this a shot:

1-Major n'oreaster hits the East Coast mid-February dumping 2 to 3 feet of snow on Virginia, PA, NJ, NY, Ohio and Delaware.
2-A much more active hurricane season for 2006 with the first named hurricane coming in early May and at least 1 hitting NJ.
3-The Phillies and the Cubs will meet for the National League Championship and the Cubs will finally get to the world series but will lose to the
Chicago White Sox.
4-The Americans will bring home the most gold in the Winter Olympics.
5-The drought will continue out west and no relief will be seen until October.
6-Israel will attack Iran.
7-There will be an attempt on GWB.
8-There will be a major earthquake on the New Madrid Fault, causing the Mississippi to flow backwards again as before.
9-Atlantic City will lose what's left of its beach due to the rising ocean; the ocean will reach the doors of the casinos.
10-Storm 2k will be acknowledged nationwide! :D
