Former Ariz. governor Sam Goddard dies

Former Arizona Gov. Sam Goddard died Wednesday, according to a spokeswoman for his son, state Attorney General Terry Goddard. He was 86.

Spokeswoman Andrea Esquer said Sam Goddard died around 5 a.m. His cause of death was not immediately available.

Goddard served one two-year term as governor, losing a re-election bid to Republican Jack Williams in 1966. Goddard was also a former state Democratic Party chairman.

How sad.......

I'm tellin' ya, good Ol' One Eyed Jack did a HECKUVA job as gov back in his days. He's got a home here in Pinetop, used to see him almost EVERYDAY when I was cutting meat!
