My grandma's rum balls were delicious. They had vanilla wafers, confectioner sugar, pecans and whiskey. She would use a large white cloth and beat the wafers and nuts with a hammer!!!!!!!! It has to be very fine or they fall apart. They were so potent that my little sister once ate three and passed out.

My jello shot story was when my SIL had a xmas party. She pre-made several trays of jello shots. And proceeded to walk around passing them out. But enjoying one or two with each group she stopped at. They'd say - jello shots, great, I'll have one, are you going to have one? Well, this SIL is the queen of shots (I'm not, I pass on ~any~ shot, proud to be the family lightweight I say!). She did more than one or two, in the end.
And passed out into her xmas tree, knocking it over, breaking ornaments and sliding down against the wall before crashing to the floor.
We've never let her live this story down.
Bad thing was she and her husband were new to the street, had invited neighbors over they barely knew yet. And they had to see her fall into the tree!
So when I think of jello shots, naturally I think of this party.
And oh, we missed this scene. My hubby (her brother), knew what was coming, not quite this stunt but one close to it, he had to drag me out of there. We heard about the next day. And of course he said - when are you going to trust me? I knew things were going downhill.....literally!

Yummy those sound good. Only thing is they aren't as strong as a normal jello shot. Coconut rum is only 15 proof or something. I guess you would just have to take more shots.

Sweet! Well I may need that recipe at a later date if you are willing to share.

Her recipe called for rum, but she hated rum, so it was good old 7&7. WHatever receipe you get, if it calls for a cup of rum, that's the receipe she used, only I would put a little bit more. Used to make them for Christmas, but would make them right after Thansgiving, and let them sit sealed till Christmas-the longer they sat, the better they were..took them to my old work one year for our in-office Christmas party, was fun

try this with jello shots...
my GF and i have a friend that worked at a vet clinic. we got a case of hypodermic syringes (WITHOUT THE NEEDLES) and mixed them in there. then to take the shot you simply press the plunger and there is very little waste.
worked like a charm for our X-MAS party except i was the one passing them out. i had on a pair of overalls as i was tending to the bonfire also...and every pocket had at least 3-4 in there to hand out as people came in.
YUMMMMMM
