Please pray for me and my little angel Zoe.....<3

I hate asking things of you guys, but you all seem so nice and I'm so heartbroken right now..... I need all the help I can get.

Earlier this week, I bought my perfect second dog - a 10 week old Papillon puppy I named Zoe. She was AKC certified, the breeder seemed to check out and gave me a good guarantee....maybe I should have checked around more, I don't know....

She hasn't been feeling great stomach-wise since she got home, but most puppies have digestive problems when they move to a new home and I knew she had been eating my other dog's food so I figured that was it. Well, this morning when I woke up she was going almost pure blood and throwing up. Rushed her to the vet, they think its parvo. Optimistically, they are giving her a 70/30% chance of making it.

Funny, I started checking up on the breeders paperwork, calling the vets where she was supposed to have gotten her first sets of shots. None of them have any record of her. Looks like I've been had.

But thats the least of my worries right now. I'm just hoping against hope that the little one pulls through this. Any prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Parvo shots come in a series of 4. The breeder should have had her first set of parvo but it is the owners' responsibility to get the other 3 which are given every two weeks.

Parvo used to be fatal 99% of the time but with the advances in Vet. medicene there's a GOOD chance that lil' Zoe will make it!

I hope everything turns out ok, I've always had a soft spot when it comes to animals. I feel really bad when I come home and my cats don't have any food and they look at me like I have neglected them. Also when my G/F and I leave for the weekend and my cat see us packing she always knows what is happening and she just follows me everywhere staring at me. Also to note that my brother told me that when we are gone both cats sit at the top of the steps waiting for us to come home most of the time.

I hope that your puppy is ok cause I have always had animals all my life and know exactly how you feel.

Awww, poor little thing. You and Zoe will be in my prayers. It's amazing how attached you can become to a new little pet. It takes no time at all and they just melt your heart.

Have you called the breeders about this yet. I'd like to listen in on that conversation.

Thank you guys all so much..... your prayers are working miracles already! I just got Zoe's test results back and she doesn't have parvo - she has some kind of bacterial infection in her intestinal tract instead. The vet seems pretty confident that she will make it as long as she stays on an IV for at least the next 48 hours to keep her hydrated and medicated. I hope hes right.

Lindaloo, isn't the vaccination schedule dictated by age, not ownership? I could be wrong, but I thought puppies were supposed to get their first combination shots at around 8 weeks old and then get follow-up shots every 2 to 3 weeks after that. Miss Zoe is a Christmas Day baby, so she's almost 12 weeks old...... I think she was already supposed to have had her second shots..... wasn't she?

Can you really report breeders to AKC? I know I'm gonna report them to the ASPCA......they were very flippant with me about Zoe and were pretty much pushing me to have her put under.....as if! People like these don't deserve to be in the same room as a dog, let alone to breed them!

YES you can report the breeder to the AKC. All you need is their name and address.

I just found out that the breeder does not have to give the puppy her first set of shots. Not every breeder is the same. My boss told me she gives the person buying one of her puppies three working days to take the puppy to the vet to get checked out. If there are any problems she will give them their money back. A good breeder will not let any puppies outside. You may have a problem proving where the Parvo came from. Parvo lives in the ground. And you may run into that problem when you report the breeder to AKC.

Poor baby! I hope she gets better. I don't think your breeder was being completly honest with you. The breeder I got my yorkie Chloe from did not give the puppies shots. Only had the dewclaws removed and the tails docked. But, our breeder warned us about Parvo and told us to keep her inside until we brought her to the vets to get her first round of shots. Even so, some puppies still get Parvo even though they had their shots. I will be praying for your baby! Let us know how she is doing. Oh, and yes, puppies are supposed to have shots at 6 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks. We got our yorkie puppy Chloe at 6 weeks. We took her that week to get shots. Then again at 8 weeks. And we got to take her again at 12 weeks. She was born December 28, 2005, so she is going on 11 weeks.

BTW, I'm glad that little Zoe doesn't have Parvo. I'd go ahead and report the breeder to the AKC. At least something will be on file about them.
