I'm into Sci-fi. Never quite got into Star Trek but loved the original 3 Star Wars movies, episodes IV, V and VI. My favorite remains, A New Hope, what I will always refer to as simply - Star Wars. When I and II were made, I didn't want to see them. To be honest, Darth Vader was my least favorite character and here by the time I (Phantom Menace) was made, he was so popular. When III came out, fellow SW fans said I just had to see it (III) but to make sense, I had to see I and II. So off to Blockbuster I went. Sure enough, after seeing II I went alone to theaters to see III. My husband said he'd go but he still hadn't watched II. I couldn't wait, I had to see it. Came home all teary eyed I might add - yes, I'm one of those wacky female SW fans that cried during one of Lucas' films. Big time. My youngest daughter then merely asked - I keep hearing about SW, watch one with me. And the rest is history. Back to Blockbuster I went and within two weeks, we were at the theater once again watching ROTS. During the Order 66 scene, she looked over at me and sobbed - this is so sad Mom. Reminded me of when she was 3 and I took her to see Lion King. She crawled onto to my lap when Simba's dad died! Fast forward 12 years and she was crying again, all b/c Anakin had to turn.
So I turned one of my kids into a Sci-fi fan. Kinda of! And we joke, last summer was definitely a Star Wars summer around here. On occasion, we even slipped into Yoda speak. Yoda became her favorite SW character and mine will always be Luke, that opinion was formed back in 1977 when I was in my 20s.
I loved a campy little movie called Logan's Run. We were watching a TV show called Out of Practice last week and this movie came up. She said - oooh mom, you've got to rent that! LOL
We have some past topics on Star Wars and possibly Lord of the Rings, if you'd like to search around. They would all be from Off Topic.
