Retirement

#1 Postby Janice » Fri Mar 31, 2006 8:42 am

If you are choosing to retire outside the United States or your country, where would you love to retire.

I would love to retire in Cancun or Costa Rica, but I am still a little afraid being that far south. I do not know how much security there is for people who live down there.

Of course, St. Johns is still my all time favorite.

Full retirement is still probably 30 years away. However, by 50 (20 years from now) I want to be partially retired and have a home in Costa Rica. That's where we want to eventually fully retire as well.

As for security, Costa Rica is very safe. They have the most stable democracy in Central America. They have benevolent presidents and smooth transitions of power. They also have a stable economy. Most of the people would qualify as poor by American standards, but they have enough to meet their needs and are happy and thus crime is relatively low.

I don't think I'll ever retire. I may slow down a little but can't imagine retiring.
